Jack Irons, a talented American drummer who has played with Pearl Jam, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Joe Strummer and others, has recently released his first solo album "Attention Dimension."
The collection features an excellent cover of "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" with Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder on vocals and noted bassist Les Claypool (Primus) on bass. You can sample the track on Irons' site here...
I like it, but it's mostly because I am a huge Claypool's fan and I have a soft spot for funky rhythms; however, I think Eddie Vedder (whom I find a great vocalist) could do a better job.....
To sum up - I like it as "a song", not as "the song", cover of that certain piece of music.

Les Claypool is God, but his cover of SOYCD was butchery.
I think Les did more with his terrible Donald-Duck-voice (sorry, Les!) than Eddie Vedder with his gorgeous voice, scale and expression.
Les put more feeling into it, Eddie seems not to know what he's singing about (I've heard the whole Irons/Vedder version)
Sorry, THAT "Fire" (not the Arthur Brown one, cevered also by many bands!) was composed by Hendrix; but e.g. "Hey Joe" is by Billy Roberts, first recorded 1n 1966 by The Music Machine, "Wild Thing" is by Chip Taylor from The Troggs etc.
