That's what I thought. It is him as a person after all. It is noteworthy to see a relatively recent photo of the man who inspired and moved so many people.
What an amazing influence he has had come to think of it!! All those people and albums he has made possible!!
It is sad to learn of his death and I feel loss but I never knew him so must not dwell too much with the sadness.
I am currently celebrating his music by listening to The Madcap Laughs album.
This is terrible news. Really, really terrible. This is the first time a musician I love has died AFTER I learned to really respect and adore him. I don't think it's sunk in.
Well... it could be worse. He did all he could and gave the world all of the music he had in his mind, and for the final thirty years of his live he lived in paradise; no large material wants (look at his lifestyle), but huge buckets of money coming in every week from what he did for us in the past. He died peacefully, having done all he could and knowing he was remembered. There's no better way for him to have gone. Maybe it is better to fade away than to burn out...
i do not think it is distastful. to me, that is one of the better recent pictures of syd. but all in all, the truth and reality of life is we get old. and we die. and we are not always young and vibrant. it is not distastful nor is it sad to see the man we loved so much here in the PF community as he was in two different stages in his life.
imho, anyway.
i do feel sad though, no matter how hard i try not to.
i guess the angels needed a guitarist and songwriter for thier band...
