Tribute Show

Post by zeppody »

It would be fitting for all four members of Pink Floyd to play a concert/tour in Syd's Honour .

As far as i know none of the above 4 have been quoted on the news of Syd's death .

I would prefer it if they didn't cash-in on their old band member's death.

I am also of this opinion. Using Syd's name to make money is pretty imoral.

Maybe they could give proceeds to a foundation in his name.

RKB wouldnt have wanted that I dont think. His head was overloaded with the death of his father and the crushing pressure of fame and drugs and he wanted to get out of the limelight as much as possible. Of course this fanned the flames of his "cult status". I doubt he would have wanted a trust in his name.

Perhaps they could give the money to some sort of diabetes charity/fund.
But lets be real here, it's a little early to be discussing the band getting back together. I'm sure that's the last thing on their mind right now.

Why not do an NPF tribute show, and give the proceeds to the relevent charities?

No? ok then.

Or they could do a free concert - in the spirit of their old days, and Syds days.

Or perhaps forget about a concert altogether. David and Roger will dedicate their shows to Syd which Roger did last night. They'll probably share their thoughts with the public in good time. I'm not saying I think they won't perform together ever again....it just won't be purely for Syd that's all.

A more pertinent (and possibly more depressing) question - is Dave Gilmour likely to play many more Syd songs at his gigs? I'm sure he will for a while, but for how long? And who will get the royalties if he plays them on any more TV performances?

Who gets the royalties for his album sales now that he is dead? I bet the accounts division at EMI must be creaming themselves with joy.

For all we know, he may have had a will.

His next of kin will be inheriting his assets unless he stated otherwise in a will. Perhaps his sister Rosemary and brother Andy will get his assets.
