Jokers Wild Band

Post by Keith Jordan »

So, what do we know about Jokers Wild in which David Gilmour played guitar?

According to Vernon Fitch's Pink Floyd Encyclopedia (3ed), Gilmour was in the band between 1964 and 1966. They performed live "every" Wednesday at the Victoria Ballroom, Market Square, Cambridge, England in the mid 60s.

One of the members here posted a thread a while ago inwhich she showed an original 45 of Joker's Wild. Her brother? was in the band before David was. She would, obviously, be a good source on Joker's Wild. I'm trying to find this post, but can't. Anybody know what I'm talking about?

HOLD ON! I found it. It's titled "Joker's Wild...thought you might like to see these" and was posted by bluedolphin.

Yes it was Blue Dolphin but she doesn't post on here much now. I'll ask her about it next time I speak to her.

It is a coincidence I saw the name John Gordon above! I am just speaking with his sister now on email. Perhaps I will ask it she will forward on some questions for her brother who used to be in Jokers Wilde with David Gilmour!

Edit: You can download what was their 12" acetate LP here>>> http://www.thepinkfloyd.co.uk/torrents- ... php?id=548

yup. i read somewhere before that he was a "member" of the band i think similar to his role with floyd. here is something i found while researching him http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dick_Parry and it is discussed somewhere here also: http://davidgilmour.musicblog.co.uk/arc ... rry_2.html
the second source i feel is pretty darn official

The second source claims that he did not play with Jokers Wild!

"Dick has been playing with the Violent Femmes. He was never a part of Jokers Wild, though. Jokers Wild were, most of the time, a four-piece and I believe David Altham played saxophone when it was required." - Features Editor.

It would seem Wikipedia is factually incorrect!

It wouldn't be the first time Wikipedia has been incorrect, it's not the most reliable of sources!

I imagine that the features editor is correct in this instance!

My Pink Floyd In The Flesh book also does not mention Dick Parry.

Jokers wild was only in England with Dick Parry, and Bullit the new name in France&England without Dick Parry If I remeber corectley.

And Keith all that we said here, will it be in the timeline and book?
