For the most part, the "failure" rating of TFC is due to the fact that it didn't sell nearly as many copies as the albums before it.

If a group sells eleven million copies of an album and "only" sells five million with their next album, it's considered a terrible failure.

It's all relative.

although i like the album,

i can imagine a few of those copies were listened to once, hated, and then sold off again, or never played again.

As is the case with every album.

Is The final Cut worth buying? I heard one song off it on the radio, and it was amazing, just don't know what that song was though... :?:

YES!!!! YES!!!! ABSOLUTELY!!!!

The Final Cut is some of Roger's best lyrics ever. They are touching, brutally honest and so descriptive.

Most people's complaints about the album are centered around the fact that the music is sparesly arranged. There are no lush musical arrangements until the last three songs. But the title song could be a nice epilogue to The Wall.

BUY IT!! Don't download it, just buy it.

Listen to it more than once before you form an opinion on it. This is an album that must be listened to beginning to end numerous times before it can truly be appreciated as the mature achievment that it is.

I've posted this somewhere else, but try this experiment...

When you buy it, before you listen to it, make yourself comfortable...lie back, turn out the lights and hit play.

By the end of the album, if you have been listening and paying attention, you should be in tears.

Thank you Mossy, I think you have just sold me on that album. Guess i'll have to go to Amazon.com though, i live in BFE, and i'll bet that cd isn't in a 500 mile radius of me. i'll keep you posted on what I think, but don't be mad at me if i don't like it, K?
