But the water itself is blue. That is a scientific fact!

No, it has been proven that water itself actually is blue, and the sky's reflection is not what makes it appear blue, contrary to popular belief!

It's NOT a metaphor!

Waters is using Personification here, not metaphor.

Personification, or personification anthropomorphism is a figure of speech that gives non-humans and objects human traits and qualities. These attributes may include sensations, emotions, desires, physical gestures, expressions, and powers of speech, among others.

That passage has personification and metaphors.

"See the splashing of the kingfisher flashing to the water. "

Obviously, a kingfisher cannot really flash.

hey now Im liking this thread!
you english majors keep cracking the whip!

the previously cited "loose the weight you used to need to throw around" bit I always liked
its sort of a mixed metaphor, as it overlaps two meanings of the word weight, which both describe the protagonists character
then leads into the line about being "dragged down by the stone"
presumably the stone is the weight Dog used to need to throw around
but now we're led into this image of drowning unwanted puppies

also that repeated word "stone", leading into the psychedelic section of the song, has its own 2nd level of meaning, for all the partayers out there in the audience

btw Im looking at a glass of water on my desk right now: its not blue!

Nobody said that it is a deeply visibly blue! But it is certainly within the blue side of the spectrum.

off topic I know, but we have put so much crap in our water that you have to wonder what water is at this point.

There is no good metaphor, as a matter of fact there are no metaphors.

I dont think so. For once its not riddled with Commie over and undertones. It would be nice to have a society like the one above, but we're humans, so it'll never happen. But we do have Roger Waters, so that's something, at least.

Nothing that isn't serious is correct.

All of his late-Floyd stuff.
For example, "They can polish their medals and sharpen their smiles, and amuse themselves being kings for awhile"
