watch, the bonus dvd will have 15 minutes of super rare concert footage and everyone will end up buying it...Mr Brooks wrote:Keith Jordan wrote:For your information, Pink Floyd's manager just told me the new box set still has no title and that there is, apparently, a problem with it!
what he is really saying:
They saw the negative reaction across ALL fansites and knew they were in trouble...
they are now trying to come up with something to make us say "wow, this kicks ass!" when in all honesty, i dont think anything but live archive material (WALL DVD!, BBC stuf etc), Unreleased material (studio outakes like with piper) we wont buy it.
The sales of "new fans" would not recover the cost of the set production...
They basicly saw they were in for one hell of a loss, now they are srambling to figure out what they can do to salvage this..

at least a remastered version in 5.1/ SACD of the 17 recordings, but not another futile box set of the same damn thing, please!
Who cares about a pointless interview with the band members!
Give us the right stuff: and you all know what we mean!
Stop the exploitation of the fans!
I'm really much more excited about the new harvested material...

Re: Pink Floyd Box Set - "The Boy, The Man"
If 15 minutes of concert footage is all that's new or different, it will be yet another contribution by PF management to turning bootlegging and non-bootlegging fans and into pirates. If they really have very little new to come up with, they would be better off just making a box set with The Same Old Material, aimed at new fans (and nothing in it for us old fans, who will then ignore it). They must give value for money by releasing substantial amounts of new material (and/or improved masterings) if old fans are going to buy this. If they try to squeeze hundreds of pounds out of a fan for a measly 15 minute video, the insult and rip-off will be just too obvious, and everone will be hanging around watching piratebay all day ...cymbaline212 wrote:watch, the bonus dvd will have 15 minutes of super rare concert footage and everyone will end up buying it...
(Still hoping Floyd management is reading this, so that we actually get something in this release.)

Re: Pink Floyd Box Set - "The Boy, The Man"
this is how the box will look like...
thought i would end some speculation... oddly this is the only site which has the details... no floyd sites, no fan sites, not even storm's site has the details on the artwork..
enjoy

I'm pulling for 5.1 mixes. If there are any new surround mixes (besides DSoTM) I'm in for whatever price.

As far as including Amused to death, that would open up a whole different can of worms. They could hardly do that without including everyone's solo projects.lostplay wrote:5 :1 mix ??? have'nt they moved on to dvd audio ??

I shall buy it...if it ever comes out...supposedly Dec. 3 or 4.
Re: Pink Floyd Box Set - "The Boy, The Man"
Nope. It'll get the usual traditional Floydian delays. Expect around February, if not January.nosaj wrote:I shall buy it...if it ever comes out...supposedly Dec. 3 or 4.

Re: Pink Floyd Box Set - "The Boy, The Man"
I certainly wont be buying that box set.
But i'll try, somehow, to get my hands on that dvd. If it'll contain some new material, of course.
When shine on box came out, I somehow managed to buy only a book from some guy who whas selling that set piece by piece...I dont think i'll be that lucky this time.

You could buy the whole box set and sell off the pieces you didn't want to keep at slightly above their piece price.Damn!t wrote:When shine on box came out, I somehow managed to buy only a book from some guy who whas selling that set piece by piece...I dont think i'll be that lucky this time.
