I just emailed Pink Floyd's manager and asked him to pass on condolences on behalf of the NPF community here.

I wonder how long he knew about the cancer? You would think with the money he has, he would be getting full health checks every 6 months!! I know I would. :(

Sad news indeed. I will break my current moratorium on listening to Floyd related music and play "Broken China" as some sort of tribute to him.

Looks like the BBC have made a mistake in quoting the Features Editor on David's website and crediting the words to David and not the FED!

Gilmour said: "He was such a lovely, gentle, genuine man and will be missed terribly by so many who loved him."

Writing on his website, he added: "And that's a lot of people. Did he not get the loudest, longest round of applause at the end of every show in 2006?"

I'm just at work here and I've got tears in my eyes. I guess I don't know what to say.

I am so saddened by this news. :( :o :(

I had no idea he was even sick. You will be missed very much. Rick in my opinion was the essence of Pink Floyd's sound. What a wonderful person and great musician. Your spirit will live on forever through your great music.

I am really bummed out.

I am watching "Wearing The Inside Out" right now and tears are welling up.....so sad.

When I saw this news on Yahoo, it felt like I had been punched in the chest. Thank you Rick for the gift of your music. You probably had no idea how many people you had touched over your lifetime. Rick wasn't the most gifted keyboard player technically, but his sound was utterly unique and more importantly, he played with depth of soul. No one sounds like him. He's one of the unheralded greats of rock, and his legacy will never wane.
So, once again, thank you for the music Rick. Peace to his family.

RIP.

Oh no. So Live 8 was the last for the four after all. Well it was a good one.

I'm so terribly sorry to hear this sudden and unexpected news. Rick was highly underrated.

My condolences to his family.

We still have the music, thank you Richard. I grew up with your tunes in my heart and soul and I'll always Remember A Day when we were young.

This is terrible news for his family and friends. His son Ben wouldn't be that old, would he? Maybe 12 or 13 at most.

Like the vast majority of people here, I never met Rick but I loved a lot of his music. The sad thing with any death is that you're drawing a line under their creative output. It's an awful pity he'll never collaborate with David Gilmour again or finally finish that interminable solo album. RIP the quiet man of Pink Floyd.

A sad day indeed. Rest in peace Richard Wright. A Floyd fan for many years now. Only ever managed to see him once at earls court 1981, The Wall concerts.
His memory will live on.

OH NO

just heard the news i am truly saddened by the loss of such a gifted man.

condolences to all his family
sadly the greatest band to ever grace the stage are bowing out one by one
surely roger and dave should forget all their petty differences and bury the hatchet once and for all.
i know we will never see them all again as a band but lets remember them as we should
True Rock legends

RIP Rick
