i hate to be a cliche, but Dark Side of the Moon is the best album. as far as none Floyd, i love Tommy, Houses of the Holy, and some Dave Matthews albums, plus many many more
Dark Side of the Moon set the standard for all music, the only thing to surpass it would have to be Wish You Were Here. This is a personal pick because I have lost some good friends along the way and it makes me think of them.
My quadraphonic Dark Side of the Moon LP sounds the best! It sounds so great being truely surrounded by the sounds of Pink Floyd. Perhaps with the SACD release of the album it will get even better.

For me Pink Floyd doesn't have a BEST album
They all sound so good at different times depending on your mood and/or situation. If I was forced to choosed the top five they would be:
wish you were here
animals
atom heart mother
dark side of the moon
the wall

To like DSOTM is not a cliche. But when speaking about The Who, I think Who's Nxt is better than Tommy.
I was suprised when I realised that C.S.I-theme is Whos "Who are you"
DSOTM IS THE BEST FLOYD ALBUM FROM A TECHNICAL STANDPOINT, IT HAS EVERYTHING AND IS A MASTERPIECE.
STILL WHEN I FLIP THROUGH MY FLOYD COLLECTION I USUALLY END UP WITH "WISH YOU WERE HERE" OR "ANIMALS" THEY'RE NOT OVEREXPOSED ON RADIO (WALL) AND, LISTENED TO IN THEIR ENTIRETY, ARE FANTASTIC START TO FINISH.
For best album, my vote goes to DSOTM. You can't argue with its success. My favourite album though, remains Animals - for strictly sentimental reasons. It was the album they were promoting when I saw them at Olympic Stadium in Montreal.
