Complete Pink Floyd & Solo Discography, help needed...

Post by Keith Jordan »

I am working on compiling a list of all album, single and soundtrack releases for Pink Floyd and related. I am just wanting to list them all for now, and then move on to adding info about them like track listings, album covers etc.

Anyway.... can anyone tell me what I am missing up to now? Any help with this would be much appreciated.

Year - Artist/Band - Entity format would be nice!

Are you limiting your list to UK releases only as various band singles were released in different countries, not necessarily with their permission?

If UK then these are the only single releases I know of.

1967 Pink Foyd - Arnold Layne
1967 Pink Floyd - See Emily Play
1979 Pink Floyd - Another Brick in the Wall, Part II
1982 Pink Floyd - When the Tigers Broke Free
1983 Pink Floyd - Not Now John
1987 Pink Floyd - Learning to Fly
1987 Pink Floyd - On The Turning Away
1988 Pink Floyd - One Slip
1994 Pink Floyd - Keep Talking
1994 Pink Floyd - Take It Back
1994 Pink Floyd - High Hopes

Would it not make sense to put down separate VHS and DVD entries for Pulse? The section specifies that it is for VHS and DVD formats, so it makes sense to include both editions.

Given that the VHS version was released years before the DVD version (and in tandem with a laserdisc release, if I remember correctly,) I think it makes just as much sense to include it as a release unto itself as it does to seperate any video release from the cd/cassette/vinyl.

Which should probably all be listed seperately, as well.

I think listing the UK releases, and significant re-releases would be a good idea. The Division Bell US edition had a slightly different track sequencing I think so that could just be a note on the UK edition page.

As for PULSE, I would include the DVD of PULSE as a new entry when it was released as the change from VHS to DVD brought significant changes!

I also think I will create a "Pink Floyd Re-Releases" and Compilations sections to put put all the other stuff in. Basically, want to cover the main official releases for the band.

I think this page will be useful....

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pink_Floyd_discography

Contents of Entity Pages

So far, I am thinking of putting the following on each release page. Let me know what you think and if it is missing anything.

Album Name
Cover image
Track listing
Release Date
Links to Amazon.co.uk and .com to purchase
Few paragraphs of info about the album.

Links to Wikipedia and Vernon Fitch's website for further info including LPs, catalogue numbers and the like.

I don't want it to be too in-depth for the time being, but it could well expand in future as people volunteer to write stuff about the albums!

You'll definitely find a lot among these links:

http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepage ... iscTOC.htm - even in Angola there was a single released! :)

I will add all the basic stuff for now that I can do without trouble. I like to do things in "chunks" to ward off procrastination! So I will add the album names, front covers, track list and the all important links to Amazon to get some commission!

I have only just bought a copy of The Wall album today! Looks like they removed it from Napster! Imagine that, I haven't even got all their CDs! They are all going really cheap on Amazon. I will have to see what I am missing.

I hadn't even heard of La Carrera Panamericana (VHS)! But I haven't got a video player anymore so don't know what I am going to do there! :-;

Yes,they are going in the compilations section when I get to it. Just working on the "format" of the album pages at the minute. Once I have the template/format done, I can wizz through all the albums and get them listed properly!

I am currently developing the template on the David Gilmour self-titled album.

Let me know what you think, what should be added, removed, how to improve. Your help would be much appreciated good people of NPF!

EDIT - Got all of Gilmour's solo albums done now. If you spot any errors, let me know!
