A nice little compilation of songs, but it's really only a way to get Roger's newest singles on CD with the other songs off his concept albums being reduced to filler by being completely out of place off their respective concept album.

I would have preferred Knockin' on Heaven's Door, Each Small Candle, Flickering Flame, Towers of Faith, Lost Boys Calling with Going to LA, the extended version of Home and maybe special live renditions of Pigs (3 Different Ones) and Sheep to "fill" the rest of the CD up.

I have an extended version of "Home" in mp3 format. I cannot recall whether or not it is the actual single of the song (Mosespa can probably verify whether or not it was released as a single), but it basically has an extended intro, prior to the vocals, without the voice clips by Jim at the beginning. I picked it up on Napster back in 1999. I quite enjoy it and would have loved to see it included on this album.

Got it before any of waters solo albums and quite like it. It did little to make me think his solo career would be all that, but i really like the title track and Too Much Rope amongst others. Only songs i didn't like on it were Perfect Sense and The Tide is Turning.

Find it interesting that he chose to call it Volume One implying there were other collections planned... Wonder what would have gone on to them

Bad choice of songs.

It would have been a lot better if it included the studio version of "Each Small Candle" and if "Radio Waves" and "Lost Boys Calling" were omitted in favour of "Home" (yes, the long version) and "It's A Miracle", per instance.

Plus I never really liked the version of the title track that's on it being that I heard it performed live before I got the album and it sounded way better with the full band playing and backing vocals.

I like this collection of Roger's songs and the only one I'd have omitted would have been Radio Waves. Not that I dislike Radio KAOS but it just seems out of place amongst the other tracks somehow.

This was sold as he went on tour again with the In the Flesh tour name.

I thought it was a bit of a let down. It is probably due too the fact that I have all his albums, and the "Solo Years Vol 1" implies other releases. So, I wanted some of the singles, b-sides and demos not available on cd.

There is a Roger quote after this release stating that he would love to release things like demos (how about "Pink Floyd Years Demos Vol 1"?).

A tour disc - probably an EMI initiative.

I wouldn't call it bad, just messy. I think the inclusion of the live versions of "Perfect Sense" was a good choice. But yes, "Flickering Flame" would have been top notch if instead of a "Best of" had gotten more of a "Rarities" direction, with out of print non album singles and B-sides, demos, soundtrack songs, collaborations, etc. Perhaps a 2-disc release? First one for a regular "best of" and the other just for the rarities, that would have been perfect.

Is that in circulation? Where I can find it?

1. I don't know if it even exists, but it would have been great to hear it recorded.

2. Yes, female backing vocals, prominent keyboards, drums, guitar solos... I thought it was great, though I've never heard that version since, and it's been almost 7 years now.
