Has anyone here got 'Single Handed Sailor' by Dire Straits? It's on their second album Communiqué, which came out in August 1979. The intro sounds like the first notes of David Gilmour's solo on 'Brick 2'.
Was 'Brick 2' recorded before this? Do you think it's possible that David Gilmour heard it and copied it a bit?
Long shot, I know.

Ha Ha,interesting one this,i have just listened to Single Handed Sailor again,and it does seem that there is a similarity,maybe they are both played in Dm,but they are'nt the exact same notes,according to the sleeve notes on Communique,it was recorded in December 1978,i'm not sure how far the Floyd were with The Wall in December 1978,but i would really like to hear Knopfler and Gilmour on stage or record together,i think they would compliment each other well.
