I have never had the oportunity to hear Project KAOS, but I think the "When The Wind Blows" songs should have been left out of it, they are not really part of the KAOS concept, people make the connection with "4 minutes" just because they deal with the nuclear holocaust. Anyway, this would be my ideal tracklist for Radio K.A.O.S:
01. Radio Waves
02. Who Needs Information
03. Me Or Him
04. Going To Live In L.A.
05. The Powers That Be
06. The Fish Report With A Beat
07. Sunset Strip
08. Molly's Song
09. Home
10. Four Minutes
11. The Tide Is Turning
12. Get Back To Radio (Bonus Track)

A good album and a great live show - the morse code on the album cover lists some of the song titles

Re: Roger Waters - Radio K.A.O.S (KAOS)
I've figured that out long ago, but I can't recall which titles exactly and in what order. Not in the order they appear on the album, anyway. The Morse code you can hear on the album is said to be gibberish, but I don't know a single person who understands the Morse code from simply hearing it who can confirm or deny this.drafsack wrote:the morse code on the album cover lists some of the song titles

So "Inspector Morse" ripped off radio KAOS?

Something to the effect of:drafsack wrote:I think its some rant about sylvester stalone
We are not alone
Together we will fight Sylvester Stallone
We will not be dragged down into his sea
Of bullshit mediocrity
It's a verse that he left out of "The Tide Is Turning."
Here we go:
"That's it!
Now the past is over but you are not alone
Together we'll fight Sylvester Stallone
We will not be dragged down in his South China Sea
Of macho bullshit and mediocrity"

Flawed, but still a great album. Home is one of Roger's best solo tracks. The 80's production really lets it down (eg the MIDI horn stabs in Powers That Be), it could really benefit from a properly done remix.

That's got to be one of the weakest verses Roger's ever written. I'd be embarassed if he had sang it on the albummosespa wrote:"That's it!

I think the shot at Stallone would have made it more interesting - I recall that Roger was forced to remove it.David Smith wrote:That's got to be one of the weakest verses Roger's ever written. I'd be embarassed if he had sang it on the albummosespa wrote:"That's it!

Actually, the Tide is Turning is the song I like the least on the album, except for a couple of lines...
Home is my favorite.

"Me or Him" has a great atmosphere going on for me, specially towards the ending. "Home" is the best song but has a weak ending and is missing a kick ass solo that could have been there. "Radio Waves" is bouncy and catchy. I'm conflicted about "Who Needs Information?" I think is a good song but with a very poor arrangement, all those generic female choruses and sax fills... bah!.

Re: Roger Waters - Radio K.A.O.S (KAOS)
the ones I dont like are the title track and Sunset Strip, and also Tide is Turning
the first two just sound like mediocre 80s rock toons, and the latter too much like Do They Know Its Christmas
once all the funky syncopated stuff starts I do like the rest of the album
and I like the remix of the title track better because it has more of those syncopated percussive bouncing noises
too bad Roger wasnt persuaded to explore funk further
I also like all the transitions, I think the transitions are even more elaborate than on The Wall, the music is always breaking down into these random sounding elements, each of which potentially has meaning, either to advance the story or else just as a joke on rogers part
the Project KAOS mix is better than the actual album, as the conventional radio friendly songs I dont like are de-emphasised and the aditional songs add more atmosphere, more range of styles
but unfortunately that one leaves out Mollys Song
since part of 4 Minutes is a reprise of Mollys Song it should be there too
this is one album Roger should really rerelease with all related bsides and outtakes edited in, it would sound much better

I gave it 3. It's been ages since I listened to this. I hardy play any Waters music as I don’t care for his solo stuff. In fact I hardly play anything that has to do with Pink Floyd. I suppose for me this is the best of a bad bunch of otherwise crap by Waters as far as I’m concerned.
