But Green Is The River has to be the most dark and sunshiny song at the same time ever

I like this album enough to give it a 3 ( it would be 3.5 ) but there are a few tracks that let it down for me. Firstly is The Nile Song which I disliked when I first heard it on Relics but even more so on here where it seems totally out of place. The other two are Quicksilver which,at over 7 minutes, is about 6 minutes too long for me and, perhaps surprisingly, Cymbaline. Cymbaline is one of my favourite early Floyd songs but, having listened to many live versions of it, here it just seems too hurried and unimpressive by comparison with the slow and dreamy live ones.

[Real Pink in the Inside]

This is probably my least favorite Pink Floyd album, but you have to keep in mind that it is a soundtrack. Despite that, the first half of the album is quite good (I am incredibly fond of the "The Nile Song," perhaps Floyd's hardest hard rock tune). I find the second half to be the worst half of any Pink Floyd record, though, with not a minute that really catches my fancy...

Excellent album!! This is one of the best "underrated" PF albums...it has so much variation that never bores me. I like everything on it.

Cirrus Minor - What a intro! Acoustic song combined with a spacey feel. Creepy and beautiful at the same time.
Nile Song - Great rocker...though Ibiza Bar is better.
Crying Song - A nice listen, didn't like it too much
Up the Khyber - Ok, it's the first part of SoS being somewhat recycled, but then it is for a soundtrack and it is also really nice to hear Rick and Nick having some fun.
Green is the Colour - I love the flute in here. Beautiful song.
Cymbaline - The vocal melody of this song still sends shivers down my spine!
Party Sequence - whoohoo!
Main Theme - The album's highest point! And one of the forgotten PF instrumental masterpieces. This instrumental alone beats any instrumental by them from DSOTM to ahead.
Ibiza Bar - Another rocker! And an excellent one...
More Blues - Generic blues...but then who cares?
Quicksilver - Ambient track, sure they aren't Brian Eno or Tang Dream, but it's lovely to see them experimenting with this style.
A Spanish Piece - A fun joke, MUCH MORE EFFECTIVE THAN SEAMUS!!! =D

Yep, what Eclipse said. A nice album to put on. Not perfect but has some inspired moments.

Giving a listen to 'More' right now ...a couple of thoughts pop up into my mind:

-'More' is definitely a soundtrack, a collection of musical snippets (A Spanish Piece, More Blues, Up the Khyber, Party Sequence) coupled with some songs (Cymbaline, Green Is The Colour) and a few intriguing atmoshperic mood pieces (Quicksilver, Main Theme). Considering this, the Floyd really should have recorded a studio version of "The Man and The Journey" to give some of these songs and pieces a better musical and conceptual context. It would also have been one of their best early albums.

-Are 'Main Theme' and 'Dramatic Theme' reworkings of 'Let There Be More Light''? I'm enjoying them quite more than the orginal.

-'Crying Song' is the great Pink Floyd "underdog" song; it's soo amazing and yet nobody seems to like it or talk about it as one of their favourites.

-'Green Is The Colour' is cut to short, just as it begins to become interesting they stop (the live versions really show this song's potential). Kinda like the same case of Fat Old Sun.

-Is Gilmour "AKA: I can not play 'Is There Anybody Out There' " really playing on 'A Spanish Piece'?

Gilmour never said that he couldn't play it. On the contrary, he said that he could play it with a leather pick, but Waters didn't want that.

Who knows? This may just have been Gilmour trying to be as obstinate about something as Roger has been known to have been. *shrug*

How did Roger get sole credit for "The Nile Song" but "Ibiza Bar" is credited to the whole band? They're the same fucking song!
