So...are you admitting you were wrong to criticize Roger...or that you were wrong to suggest that anyone who would do so deserves an ass kicking.

And please explain how a functioning clock is wrong twice a day? lol

The Pros & Cons is one of my favorite RW solo albums. I was fortunate to see it performed live with Eric Clapton back in 84'.
The Pros & Cons came very close to being a Pink Floyd album. The way I understand it is that around 1978 when the Floyd members were discussing a new project Roger had 2 rough demos, the Wall and The Pros & Cons. The band chose "the Wall" and the rest is history. I heard that both demos sounded very similar. The Pros & Cons does sort of have that "In The Flesh" thing going on, you can hear it most on "Go Fishing". I just love what Clapton did for that record. I will never get tired of hearing it.

I'm afraid I must disagree. I think that Clapton's work did not really do it for me on that record. To my ears, it sounds like one long continuous drone of twangy blues guitar - really not very much variety.

It would have been a great (although possibly failed) experiment if Roger had done something totally different such as recording it as an orchestral suite with Clapton guesting on a couple of tracks. However, the deluge of very similar guitar sounds and licks just leaves me cold and bored.

I honestly believe that "The Pros And Cons Of Hitch Hiking" feature some of the poorest guitar work from Eric Clapton. I was just a kid to see the actual album tour, but his playing on the album is far below his average. Not technically though, but the lack of inspiration and idea in his never-ending (and mostly misplaced) licks is omnipresent.

I do agree with some of the opinions about the album being too repetitive. Clapton has definitely done much more interesting guitar work over the years but personally I just like the whole dream concept of the album. I think Clapton's guitar work backs up the emotions of Rogers screaming vocals pretty well. I sort of consider that album one long song. I never really cared much for the title track but it has grown on me over the years...

I love the thought of it being done as an orchestral suite that someone mentioned above. I've always wished that Rog would make a modern "Atom Heart Mother" type of album. I think "The Pros & Cons" would have been great for something like that.

+1

Jeff Beck did a much better job on ATD than Clapton on P&C. Too bad Waters never managed to do a real collaborative album with him, not just a solo record with Beck as guest. He is the one guitarist who could add the musical counterbalance that Waters have been missing so much since he quitted the Floyd.

Absolutely! Jeff Beck is amazing on all fronts...
There's a Jeff Beck concert video out there somewhere with Waters as a guest, Real good stuff. I believe it has the only live version of "What God Wants (part 3)".
I only saw it once but the entire show is great - of course...

I confess, I only went to see the pros and cons tour because I wanted to see Clapton.
