David Gilmour on new Bryan Ferry Olympia Album 2010

Bryan Ferry will release a new solo album called Olympia on 25th October 2010 which features Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour.

The recording also features Ferry's old band mates Phil Manzanera, Andy Mackay and Brian Eno from Roxy Music and is the first time the band has worked together since 1973.

Will you be buying it?

interesting, its the first time Eno's worked with them since 1973, but the band as such continued to 1983
and by the point of the Avalon tour the band consisted of Ferry, Manzanera and McKay plus a new generation of supporting musicians
I wonder how much the Roxy Music vets will be involved? are they on one song or the whole album?

Buy - maybe. I'm not a big fan.
Listen to - definitely. Because David is on it.

Jonny Greenwood will be guesting on this one, too. Even more reason to give it a listen, as if Mr. Gilmour weren't enough.

I did purchase Olympia and was sad to see that DG was only on a couple songs and you'd never know it was him playing. His sound has been so buried in techno tricks...not an essence of DG left at all and the record, overall, was overworked and muddled.
Conversely, DG shines through on The Orb's Metallic Spheres...unmistakable riffs and his work fits in with Graham Nash's and others' contributions. A splendid ambient trip, especially on headphones. Still waiting to hear what DG has done on Intro To Syd Barrett.
