Dark Side of the Moon Album

Post by Firework-phil »

Hi,

I have an original, 1973, LP. The two posters and sticky back cards are still with it. It has been in our cupboard for many years.

The sleeve is in excellent condition as it has hardly ever been moved, there is just slight wear to the corners. The LP has hardly been played.

Can anyone tell me whether it is of value or not ? as I have no idea.

Regards - Phil

That kind of talk could get you banned from here for life

There were so many produced that the majority have no great value as a glance at ebay would tell you. The fact you have the posters etc makes it slightly more desirable but the real thing is to know which pressing of the album it is as some (I think the ones with the solid blue triangle in the middle are one example) are worth a whole lot more than others. Without knowing details like that it would be impossible to say.

May I burn in hell.

Whilst the LP has hardly been played I have it on Tape, CD and on my Ipod and still listen to it.

How do I tell what pressing it is - sorry to be dumb. Unless it is the bracketed number - SHVL 804B - would that make it a second pressing ?

Oh and the centre triangle is Black with a blue outline.

Cheers - Phil

Someone once posted a link to a place with all that info on pressings but I can't find it now. I don't think it had prices but at least you could get to know which one you have so maybe someone else can remember it for you. :?

Interestingly they were STILL putting the posters/stickers in new copies when I bought mine in the US in 1988 :) (No prism on the label at that point though)

I'm still here....!!!
The right value of a first UK issue (solid prism) is between £ 80-90 and £200-250... it depends on the quality of the cover/vinyl and all the inserts (posters, stickers). Ebay is not true...
If you have a blue outline prism... it's a second issue or later, see my page to compare the details about the label and the numbers in the run-off.

Are you serious? Where can I get the solid prism first pressing for 80 pounds?!

The Record Collector Guide 2012 Edition values a MINT copy of the 1st pressing, solid blue prism label with black inner sleeve, 2 posters and 2 stickers for GBP 500 <.8.> And that is an increase of GBP 200 since the last publication in 2010!!!

I have a copy with posters, stickers, black inner etc but sadly it is not mint (someone decided to put their initials on the label in biro!) But I am still proud to own one complete, and it sounds incredible 8)

Crickey! It makes you think, eh? I'm still glad that my copy is worn out as with an album as good as DSOTM is it shouldn't be mint!
