How come? PHP based forums usually allow embedding.

I would think that is posed as a securiy risk to users of the forum as people could embed all sorts of stuff perhaps and abuse people's privacy without them knowing!

I have made a much simpler way for you to post videos from YouTube!

1 - Find a video on youtube that you want to post, copy the URL link from the box on the YouTube video page.
2 - Paste link into a new message on NPF and highlight it.
3 - Press the YouTube button just above the area where you type your message.

Give it a go and let me know how you get on!!

Example. Pink Floyd Astronomy Domine video has the URL below.

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=6zjiLWavN5A

You want to highlight it, then press the YouTube button above which would give...

Code: Select all

You may want to preview your posts before submitting it to make sure it works!

End result....

Good man Keith. That was easy as pie, with or without the crust.

Great addition. The same feature is on two other forums I use, and it's so much more convenient than having to put in a huge code. The button next to 'B', 'i', 'u', etc. is also good. I've never seen that on other boards with the feature, for some stupid reason.

First of all you need a YouTube downloader software, if I understand you correctly. You can find a bunch of nice plug-ins for any browser you're using, but from my experience they work best in Mozilla Firefox 2.x. Just type "YouTube downloader" in Google and see what it has to offer you, then use what you think will suit you best.

Once you obtain the clips, you need a movie editing software. The most common (the most simple too) software for movie editing would be Windows Movie Maker, which is a part of Microsoft Windows, but it's unavailable in Windows 7, so if you're running 7 you should check out other solutions. You can find a very good semi-pro solution for movie editing in Nero Vision (available in Nero 7 and 8 packs, don't really know about other versions), and if you need a professional program you could try Adobe Premiere or Sony Vegas. I think I don't have to remind you that neither of these solutions is free, but... :-;

Hope this helps. If you need any more information, feel free to ask. I am not a professional movie editor, but I've worked on several short films, both documentary and fiction, so I'm kind of into the matter. 8)
