what do you think MG?

personally i love it... dragged ropes is a great staret

totally not what i expected
I really like it...you're right, it is not what I expected either, but listening to it, the direction they've taken makes perfect sense. Neither of them seem content to repeat past glories...both like to continually progress into new territory. The first time I listened to it, I popped it into my car stereo, and that was just all wrong. This is more a late night album to sit back and drink in slowly.

I have them both: I think Storm Corrosion is fabulous. I quite like Clockwork Angels ... but it's not Hemispheres is it.

Two albums that I've had just as downloads where I've been 'evaluating' them for five years or so.

Galactic Zoo Dossier - Arthur Brown's Kingdom Come. Great prog/ psychedelic album with his voice being somewhat similar to Zappa's.

Glass Top Coffin - Ramases.
One of the stranger stories in rock/pop music. Born Martin Raphael in Sheffield, England he was either a gas fitter or central heating salesman who claims to have been 'visited' by the spirit of the Egyptian god and subsequently changed his name to Ramases and his wife's to Selket. Their first album, 'Space Hymns' was completed in 1971 with help from the members of what was to become 10CC and this one some 5 years later. The story goes that the cover was supposed to be a pop-up affair and when this didn't come about (along with poor sales) Ramases lost interest in the whole music industry. He committed suicide in the late 70's and his wife has since gone on forums to discuss the albums which became very popular in South Africa and Germany.

Post - Björk

Very good album. Has a lot of "catchy" songs despite not featuring anything remotely close to a hook. Is also surprisingly eclectic, with a number of genres branching off of the electronic template that each track is based off of (sans "It's Oh So Quiet").

The Mandra Gora Lightshow Society - Beyond the Mushroam Gate....certainly one of the trippiest albums I have heard.

I only know Blur's singles, some are nice or even great (Coffee and TV) others aren't that interesting (can't come up with an example). So I'm no real Blur fan, but I certainly don't dislike them.

Bought in a charity shop last week:- 'This is My Truth Tell Me Yours' (Manic Street Preachers); 'Use Your Illusion' (Guns N' Roses); 'Parachutes' (Coldplay); 'Truly Madly Completely' (Savage Garden); and 'Kings of Cajun - 22 Stomps From The Swamps' (Compilation). Total cost £4.95 - absolutely no complaints.

I purchase numerous albums on mp3, but I only post the physical media albums I buy here. The latest was Neil Young's Psychedelic Pill, and I found it to be quite a big disappointment. Not sure why it's getting such rave reviews, I thought it was just a mess. People are comparing it to Ragged Glory and even Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere. WTF?!? I just do not understand that. Both those albums were masterpieces. Psychedelic Pill is just a rambling, unfocused mess of jams that lack energy and go nowhere and a few shorter songs that are bland and unmemorable. And the lyrics? Utter crap. Young ranting on and on, repetitively, saying nothing. Sample:

Gonna get me a hip hop haircut
Gonna get a hip hop haircut
Gonna get a hip hop haircut
Hey now now, hey now now
Hey now now, hey now now
Blocking out my anger
Finding my religion
I might be a Pagan
I'm driftin' back
I'm driftin' back
I'm driftin' back
I'm driftin' back

Seriously? :? I bet he spent about 60 seconds writing that. Maybe I built my expectations up too high, but I find nothing on this album that draws me in. Those first few seconds, with the acoustic guitar and Neil Young's voice sounding like he was 20 years old again were beautiful, then it all went to crap.
