Every time I feel like it, I just put on some of his works and, you know, suddenly he's in the room... in my mind... he's present.jtull wrote:Happy birthday to Richard Wright of Pink Floyd, one of the most talented keyboardists in the history of rock music. Any one know about Rick's cancer. Obviously I'm not an expert but I don't think I've ever heard of someone dying of a 'short battle' with cancer before. Usually people, esp. people with money can fight it for yrs. I guess there must be some forms of cancer that are particulary virulent and Rick had one of those or it was kept quiet but I don't really belive that to be the case. The way he just suddenly texted David to say he wouldn't be performing with him on Jools Holland seemed strange too.

Having a cancer about 10 years ago, I think I know a bit about it. There is no time limit for a battle with cancer, nor there are more or less virulent or aggressive cancers. The thing is, some people discover their illness early, some discover it late. The later you discover it, your chances for recovery are smaller and the time on your hands less. Whatever kind of cancer Rick had (and I completely support his family's decision not to reveal the fact), he must have discovered it very, very late. That's about all there is about it.Flying pig437 wrote:Obviously I'm not an expert but I don't think I've ever heard of someone dying of a 'short battle' with cancer before.

Words can't describe the role Rick played in Floyd, not only through his musical talents but also through his beautiful personality. We'll always love him, and miss him terribly.

Wow. Time does fly by...
I was watching a LOT of old video footage of early Floyd recently (ordering the archive) and really felt like Rick added the unique sound to PF.

There is not enough being said about him to justify a top level forum same as Nick Mason.

I can clearly remember hoping it was that soccer player, as selfish as it was.nosaj wrote:
