New Pink Floyd Album 'The Endless River'

Post by metanoia »

From Polly Samsons Twitter feed today.

"BTW Pink Floyd album out in October is called 'The Endless River'. Based on 1994 sessions is Rick Wright's swansong and very beautiful"

I am speechless. Dream come true (if it is true)

EDIT: Since the history section of this website has been stuck at 1994 for possibly years now, maybe that section will pickup in the month or two. <ii>

Col Turner had to retrieve a post because of legal reasons, apparently.

"Please stand by for an important Official announcement! (Previous story regarding new Pink Floyd album removed at request of Pink Floyd Management). (5 July 2014)"

Andy Jackson:
“It is the extrapolation of the ‘Big Spliff,’” he explains, “a bunch of jams from ‘The Div(ision) Bell” sessions that have had new overdubs done in the last year or so.”

More Pink Floyd fan site drama comes with this album.

Col T from Pinkfloydz.com was asked by Pink Floyd Management to not post any info about this until they put out something, so he took down his story.

Then it turns out Brain-Damage.co.uk left their story up (it's still up), so Col T has take down his site in protest. The forums are still up though.

You're probably right, but it just wouldn't seem right not to do a tour. I know Wright is no longer with us, but still. A *new* Pink Floyd album. Wow.

But yeah, I do remember listening to a DB tour interview with Nick Mason where he was stating that the band would like to break the tradition of "album, tour, album, tour".

So who knows. My mind is still having a hard time believing this. Imagine the stage setup this time around, if there be a tour.

When (If) Gilmour tours for his solo album, I could see him playing some of the material.

Maybe only at select shows when Mason guests on drums?

I'm somewhere roughly around the same shape as you are. After 20 years, it's finally happening. I think we should have a huge forum-wide party to celebrate this occasion [-D-]

This is such great news! I can't even begin to explain how excited I am about this. I've wanted to hear those Satellite album outtakes forever now.

I sort of don't think even if a tour happens that the shows would be all that huge. Nowhere near the size of the 1994 ones anyway. Because I remember Gilmour saying back after the Division Bell in like '97 I think that when and if a new album comes out, there'd be fewer more smaller venues without all the baggage of the lights and everything. I bet it'll roughly be like a Momentary Lapse kind of size. I just don't see them being the age they are having a huge extravagant show one-upping the '94 one (plus it would be a hard feat outdoing that). If on the rare chance they do, there'd definitely not be many shows. Though they said the same thing with the Division Bell tour and look what "a few shows" turned into.
