David Gilmour - Wroclaw concert: Polish TV live broadcast details

Written by Matt
Thursday, 16 June 2016

David Gilmour - Wroclaw, Poland 2016Television broadcast details are now through for David Gilmour's concert in Plac Wolności (Freedom Square), in Wroclaw, Poland. The concert takes place next Saturday, June 25th, and is the first show of the remaining part of David's 2015-16 Rattle That Lock tour.

The special one-off event, located on Freedom Square in front of the National Forum of Music, and including a large orchestra, will be filmed by Aubrey 'Po' Powell and broadcast live on Polish TV. This forms part of the city's celebrations as European Capital of Culture 2016.

Those in Poland (who are not attending the sold-out show, that is) should tune in to channel TVP2, who are scheduled to broadcast the concert between 9:45pm - 11pm local time. Unless there is a truncated show planned for this venue, one presumes they are only showing the second half of the concert? Following on, at 11pm is a half-hour interview with David, but no details are provided of when the interview was undertaken.

Those in Poland, and elsewhere, may be able to watch the broadcast online via a stream. The channel's website is at tvp2.tvp.pl. Our thanks to Cam for letting us know about the channel detail

One Of These Days and A Great Day For Freedom have been rehearsed so chances are one of them will be played at the gig tomorrow or both played

Well now it's over... I had to switch sites because part 1 and part 2 were not on the same channel first one was amazing but the second I had to restart browser every 10 minutes.

However pretty sure it's gonna be spread everywhere over the Internet, Image and sound wise it's pretty flawless... A few shot tweak (i.e. During WYWH intro they show the 12 strings guy but there is a guitar in front of him) and it could be released as a DVD.

And what to say about the performance it's the less mistake I saw him do of all that tour, his voice struggled a bit in the last set tho... But his band is great, let alone the orchestra...

The 'rehearsal' video on Youtube has been blocked (by Pink Floyd)

The 'stage set up' is still available -

Here's part of the performance -

He really duffed up 5am again. Age is definitely catching up.

I'd drop it from the set if I was him, hitting duff notes on slow tracks with a clean tone is excruciating.

The rest of the clips I found he sounded absolutely fantastic. Vocals a bit strained in places but I admire that he'll still go for the us and then chorus in its original key at 70 years old.

Both sets are up on our favourite tracker, first in HD and second in SD.

Sounds and looks great so far!

Played it perfectly at the alvert on the 23rd September but other than that I think he's made a mistake nearly every time.

I'm not even sure why, it's easier to play than most of his tracks and it's so slow it's hard to lose your way on the fretboard

I bet there's actually something to that!

I find Les Pauls slightly more awkward down below the 12th fret. Not enough to fuck up 5am night after night but still haha!
