My knowledge of 'The Committee' is extremely hazy.
It was Syd who wrote music for The Committee'. Just before he was out from the band. Syd liked also the idea to work with Arthur Brown in that project, and wanted to do music for film.

But he left, and rest of the band(4-man Pink Floyd) gott in the studio some two weeks after Syds departure and recorded the music without him.

No Barrett. I guess this explains why my knowlegde of 'The Comittee' is hazy. :P

Is 'In the Beechwoods' only the instrumental backing track of an unrecorded Barrett song?
Or will it somehow contain (guide) vocals?
Or was it intended as an instrumental?

Where did you get that info that Syd wrote it?

And how did he "write" it?
As Barrett didn't literally write music. So, he must have performed it in some way or another.
Did the other members remember whatever he performed? Or was it recorded? (Where is this recording then?)
And how does this fit with Barrett unable/unwilling to compose for Pink Floyd? ('Have You Got it Yet')
Why are only the other Pink Floyd member credited in the movie, judging the screenshot?

What I look more forward to right now is the whole mythical John Latham session. I have absolutely no idea what to expect from this but it's a substantial chunk of unknown Syd-Floyd music. Do we know if these have vocals?

Some more information on 'The Committee', at Steve Hoffman Music Forums:
Lost 1967 Pink Floyd soundtrack
http://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/l ... ck.159761/

In that topic, Chris M wrote on 6 and 7 September 2008:
Just 4 days after he was famously not picked up Syd (with session musicians) recorded a 15 minute soundtrack for The Committee film at Sound Techniques as a solo artist. I think Syd was asked to supply the soundtrack while he was in Pink Floyd but I may be wrong about that. In any event Syd was in somewhat poor shape at the session and he insisted that the soundtrack he recorded be played backwards and the filmmakers decided to use the Gilmour Floyd.
Unfortunately Syd's attempt at the The Committee soundtrack is thought to be lost. Peter Jenner has said he lost it ages ago.
This means, Barrett made a version of 'The Committee' which got lost.

More Barrett exclusions:
Apparently, the stereo mix of 'Paintbox' still is only available on the compilation 'Relics'.
No stereo mix of 'Apples and Oranges', only available on vinyl compilation 'Masters of Rock' and on 40th anniversary 3CD edition of 'The Piper' (2007).
That edition of 'The Piper' contains some versions of 'Interstellar Overdrive' which remain unique to that set.

Non-Barrett exclusions:
'Biding My Time' is missing, only available on the compilation 'Relics'.
Of 'Live at Pompeii', 'Mademoiselle Nobs' is missing.
And what about 'The Violence Sequence', 'Fingal's Cave' and such?

(With 'Fingal's Cave', I mean two relaxed instrumentals and an aggressive instrumental - all bootlegged under the same title...)

Really, really happy at last Obscured By Clouds is finally going to get the respect I feel it deserves. I haven't put a sound or picture to the list so made up Hyde Park gig is on there.
In The Beechwoods is going to cause some massive arguments! Rick is playing on organ what Syd strummed in chords to Opel!

More, more Barrett exclusions:
- Alternate take of 'Jugband Blues'. (Maybe used as part of the remix?)
- 'Bike' acetate version.
- Full 'Interstellar Overdrive' that was cut down for the French EP. (Does this full version still exist?)
- 'Candy with a Currant Bun' with "I'm high" lyrics. (I mentioned this one as 'Let's Roll Another One'.)
- Unreleased mix of 'Chapter 24'. (Maybe used for the video?)
Source: http://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/p ... t-14752103 (rnranimal)

The above listed alternative versions of 'Jugband Blues', 'Bike' and 'Chapter 24' are unknown to me.
So, that's why I'm depending on someone else's list.

More non-Barrett exclusions:
- 'Ummagumma' live outtake 'Interstellar Overdrive'.

So, expect no surprises here.

Erroneously lists the contents of disc 20.

Disc 21
01. 7 inch Single: See Emily Play/The Scarecrow

Erroneously, 5.1 mixes of albums 'Meddle' and 'Obscured by Clouds' were announced,
resulting in rumours about future releases.
("new 5.1 mixes of Meddle and Obscured By Clouds albums")
Another error seems to be 'See Emily Play' being a long version. ("8:57")

More, more, more Barrett exclusions:
- 'See Emily Play' acetate mix.

Here is the list of tracks from the box set that are completely unreleased until now, as far as I can tell from the titles (the list below is excluding alternate/live/remix versions of already released tracks, and the material from the 1965 double single released last year):

01. In The Beechwoods
02. Vegetable Man
03. Scream Thy Last Scream
04. Reaction in G
05. John Latham
06. Instrumental Improvisation (12 XII 1967)
07. Instrumental Improvisation (24 II 1967)
08. Song 1
09. Roger’s Boogie
10. Instrumental Improvisation (XX III 1968)
11. Instrumental Improvisations 1,2,3 (02 XII 1970)
12. Baby Blue Shuffle In D Major
13. Blues

Soundtracks
01. Hollywood [from More]
02. Seabirds [from More]
03. On The Highway [from Zabriski Point]
04. Auto Scene Version 2 [from Zabriski Point]
05. Auto Scene Version 3 [from Zabriski Point]
06. Aeroplane [from Zabriski Point]
07. Explosion [from Zabriski Point]
08. The Riot Scene [from Zabriski Point]
09. Looking At Map [from Zabriski Point]
10. Love Scene Version 7 [from Zabriski Point]
11. Love Scene Version 1 [from Zabriski Point]
12. Take Off [from Zabriski Point]
13. Take Off Version 2 [from Zabriski Point]
14. Love Scene Version 2 [from Zabriski Point]
15. Love Scene (Take 1) [from Zabriski Point]
16. Unknown Song (Take 1) [from Zabriski Point]
17. Love Scene (Take 2) [from Zabriski Point]
18. Crumbling Land (Take 1) [from Zabriski Point]
19. Music from The Committee No. 1
20. Music from The Committee No. 2
21. Moonhead

There is much repetition in the soundtracks above for sure, unclear how much unique music is actually included.

We also get The Man and the Journey as a whole set on a separate CD (Hooray!), but I am not sure how much unique music it actually contains.

I hope that I am not missing anything. Essentially, 2 CDs worth of "brand new" old stuff.

Absolutely beside myself with excitement for this. Have no idea where I'm going to get the $700 (which in Canadian dollars works out to about $920 <.8.> ).

Today, Chris M wrote on 'Steve Hoffman Music Forums':
The track bootleged as 'Sunshine' is unrelated to the Latham recordings. "Sunshine" (sic) is the backing track for an untitled Syd original recorded September 4th 1967 at Sound Techniques. A fairly major omission.

The John Latham session dates from October 20 1967 at De Lane Lea....this was the final day at De Lane Lea - the day following the brass overdubs for Jugband Blues. The very stuff of legend. More on this session later...
Biggest omission for me is the substantially different early mixes (both RM1) of Bike and Lucifer Sam. Bike RM1 has a different vocal performance with some alternate lyrics. Lucifer Sam RM1 has alternate vocals as well in addition to lacking an entire layer of overdubs added later for the LP.

Several radically different early versions of Paintbox as well. The first version recorded has no keyboards at all....just bass, drums, Syd's guitar with Rick's vocals. The 45 version was a later re-make.
[Are the tapes for No Title known to still exist?]
Absolutely. 1/2" 4-track reel numbered E68411. Contents are 7 takes of "Untitled" Take 7 labeled best along with unnumbered rehearsal heard in reverse surviving at the end of the reel.
[No. I mean they possibly confused some of the Latham takes with No Title and included it as part of Latham outtakes.]
Can't imagine they did as they are on different reels from different studios. It looks like they gave us the entire contents of E68416 which is the Latham 4-track. Never in my wildest dreams did I think that would happen.
Source: http://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/p ... 80/page-54 (page 54-55)

So, for the list of Barrett exclusions:
- 'No Title' (mislabeled on bootlegs as "Sunshine"/"Madcap's Embrace")
- Early version of 'Bike'. ("different vocal performance with some alternate lyrics") (The previously mentioned "acetate version"?)
- Early version of 'Lucifer Sam'. ("alternate vocals as well in addition to lacking an entire layer of overdubs added later for the LP")
- Early versions of 'Paintbox'. ("Several radically different early versions [...] The first version recorded has no keyboards at all....just bass, drums, Syd's guitar with Rick's vocals.")

Worried about what sources have been used, Laservampire wrote today:
Another thought on the 67 BBC sessions, the short timing for "Pow R Toc H" seems to match the length of the track on the old old crummy sounding boots, much shorter than the newest boots from an improved tape.

I really hope they're not just recycling crummy bootlegs for that very expensive and exclusive bonus disc!
Source: http://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/p ... 80/page-55

In other words, is the BBC radio version of 'Pow R Toc H' complete?
And what sound quality does it have?
