Their music sounds simple and basic, but it's hard to play to sound that simple and basic.
It sounds like music for the fun of music itself. No troubled souls or caleidoscope apples, just some macho stuff about a car and a woman. In the past I made the mistake to take that serious as well and then decided that the lyrics were too easy. Now, I like both worlds.

My choice for today:
Robyn - With Every Heartbeat

And ZZ Top acting like German pop-stars

The new Strokes stuff. Some say One Way Trigger is way too weird, I don't care.

I'll probably get kicked off the forum for admitting this ;) ......

There are some bands I probably prefer to Floyd that would be rather disgustingly pop to a lot of Floyd fans, I feel the worst would be Eiffel 65. I already admitted elsewhere on the forum that Europop(1999) is one of my fave '90s albums. I also like Chumbawamba's Tubthumper album. There are some rather lightweight '80s bands I like too like Men Without Hats and Europe.

I'd listened to stuff all over the spectrum growing up, but in 2000 settled on AC/DC as a kind of musical centre and I think that naturally led to Pink Floyd and other classic rock bands. For a while, "pop" was a dirty word, but I gradually allowed myself to listen to lighter stuff again. I remember buying Genesis' Invisible Touch(album) feeling as though I was crossing a line(I wasn't actually very aware of Genesis' long history). I felt I was crossing an even bigger line when I bought an album by Men Without Hats and bigger still when I bought The Essential Nik Kershaw ;) I'd say today nothing is off limits if I really like it. What about how David Gilmour took that advert jingle for "Rattle That Lock"? ;)

It is the SNCF train announcement jingle used before they alert passengers to a train arrival or departure.

Oh I see. It's cute. lol. "Rattle that Lock" seemed a pretty catchy song, seemed to make the top 100 in France. Thinking about downloading it, maybe not.

So I read, David recorded it on his phone at the train station.
