Re: The Later Years 1986-2014
A 46-track version has been released on Spotify consisting of AMLOR remix, DSOT remix and a few extras which seem to come from TBS/live dates in 1987 and 1994. Currently listening now and am overwhelmed with Learning to Fly. The intro sounds much more like Floyd, the drums are improved and the overall mixing just sounds glorious!

One point of interest:
Nervana (04:56) on The Later Years is a different track from Nervana (05:32) that was added as an audio extra on the deluxe edition of The Endless River. It is the same composition, but played differently.

And another:
"Untitled" (01:22) which is on The Endless River deluxe addition as a video only is on The Later Years as the complete audio track "The Rick's Theme" (02:34).

Dogs of War's DSOT new mix is really good that thumping bass during the sax solo WOW. In fact the bass driving thru the whole song is amazing it takes the song to another level. Which was hidden on the original

Echoes was performed 11 times in 1987, too bad that did not make it as a bonus somewhere as both audio and video, assuming it had been captured. The slapping bass on it by Guy Pratt makes it a unique sounding version.

Re: The Later Years 1986-2014
I've heard people comment that they must have worked on it for a while, hence the different versions. It was presumably something they came up with early on, maybe even in the initial jam sessions, and then it was involved in the gradual whittling-down process that produced much of the material on Endless River and some of the final material on Final Cut. I'm a bit surprised that it didn't end up making the cut for either record, actually.

This is one of the best things from the tracks I've heard so far--not only does it feature far more Nick and Rick, it also makes Tony Levin's bass playing a lot more prominent. He's one of the best bass players on the planet, after all.

MP3? What about all of the effort gone into the sound quality? Just flush it all away with some diminished 256kbps download?Keith Jordan wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2019 1:17 pm Great news that AMLOR and DSOT are available digitally for people to listen to without having to buy the massive box set!
I don't know any pink floyd fans who are not aware of Wright's contributions to pink floyd.
Did he really call them THE pink floyd? Because then the tendency would be to believe that it was all about Syd Barrett.

A bunch of the box set is up on Spotify now, including the full AMLOR remix. I'm listening to it now and some songs (especially Yet Another Movie and Terminal Frost) it's like night and day. I'm really happy with it

Ah sorry, I didn't notice that you were writing about DSOT, not AMLOR.
Anyway, I'm eager to hear both the DSOT version and the AMLOR versions. I've never liked the song much, but have heard good comments about the AMLOR remix version as well.

When there was no internet we had this fanzine “The Amazing Pudding”
They had a top 10 of worst PF songs.
Number one was “dogs of war” if I remember correctly, just before Seamus on 2.
