Back to the ages...

Post by Peter Harold »

Hello, dear friends!

Sometimes Mr. David Gilmour has stated that he is less innovative than people expect. I think I could agree. But he is pretty good at making good ideas into good music.

But one should be fair to tell that some of the good ideas are pretty old. When Pink Floyd went onto the roads with the song "Keep Talking", some had a "wow, this is amazing" when they heard the outro of that song, while others - perhaps the male adults - reminded their kids about this being done by Pete Framton in the days when dad and mum thought their protection was working... but here is the kids to be educated about what really "came alive" in those days, so to speak.

And still, Pete Framton was not the first to create odd sounds with his guitar and a tube into his mouth. And David Gilmour was not the first to make odd sounds on a lap guitar.

Ladies and gentlemen, here is a history lesson in picture and sound:

And David Gilmour was not the first to introduce acostic guitar 'intro' in the Wish You Were Here song. 8)

Wow, several great tracks on this thread ... the Van Morrison one is particularly interesting as I keep hearing elements of the WYWH sequence of notes

Time to fire up the 5.1 and have the full WYWH album playing around the house whilst I avoid Storm Dennis.
