On this day in history 5th July I saw PF twice. On 5th July 1975 I was them at Knebworth for their only UK show of 1975. This show was the last time they played Dark side and Echoes as the classic 4 piece line up and the first time in the UK that they played Shine on in two sections. It wasn't their finest hour as their PA was knackered as it was used by every other band that day and they had issues with having enough power for for the equipment and effects. One of Ricks keyboards packed up early in the set and there was a pause while they had to re tune some of the other equipment. Also on this day in 1989 I saw them for the first of two visits at the now demolished Docklands Arena. The Dockland shows were pretty much 'Floyd by Numbers' with nothing really changing from one show to another

Also on this day 13. July 1985 David Gilmour was the only member of Pink Floyd to appear at 'Live Aid', playing guitar with Bryan Ferry's band which also included future Floyd/Waters backing musician Jon Carin.

Would that have been the first time Carin and Gilmour met?space triangle wrote: ↑Mon Jul 13, 2020 11:27 am Also on this day 13. I don't know for sure, but given that Jon was only 20 years old at the time I guess it was the first time they met. I doubt that before this concert they collaborated in any form, or knew each other att all.Annoying Twit wrote: ↑Mon Jul 13, 2020 12:40 pmWould that have been the first time Carin and Gilmour met?

''Jon has been a part of the Pink Floyd family for over 30 years, having met David Gilmour at Live Aid whilst playing in Bryan Ferry’s band together, as Jon had been on Bryan’s Boys And Girls record.Annoying Twit wrote: ↑Mon Jul 13, 2020 12:40 pmWould that have been the first time Carin and Gilmour met?

On this day thirty years ago, ie 21 July 1990, Roger and friends performed The Wall concert in Berlin. I was there and it was a memorable trip involving a train to Dover, a bus to Hannover for an overnight, another bus to Berlin, museums and Check Point Charlie etc before the concert, the concert itself (complete with false start and hiccups) and then a long bus journey back to Hannover for another overnight.
