As a teenager, Jon Carin started his professional musical career with the band Industry as their lead singer, keyboardist and songwriter. During his time with the band, they had a hit single with "State of the Nation" in 1982, being followed by the album Stranger to Stranger.

Isn’t it a bit srange that Jon left his quite promising music career and became a backing musician at the Pink Floyd?

Re: Jon Carin - Industry
The song is better than I remembered. Quite catchy.
The album isn't on Spotify that I can see, but it is on youtube. I'm going to give it a spin.
While there was a small gap between the band disbanding and Carin entering the PF world, he was already doing session work by then, and the band was gone. So, it's not that he decided to knock Industry on the head to do PF stuff instead. Also, it's possible that he wasn't thinking of becoming a long-term PF side-person, but maybe once he started it was easy to continue.
I would have thought Carin, who can sing and write, would have released solo albums. But, I can't find evidence of that. He did sing a song for the band/unit 'Truth Movement' called 'Green is the Colour', but it's a different song from the PF one, and I didn't find it to be excellent.
And here, yet again, is Jon doing a superb job on Dogs (as the Youtube description says). He clearly could helm and album of his own if he had wanted to.
Could we one day have an album with PF side-people such as Jon, Snowy White if he can play again, Guy Pratt, and Gary Wallis?
