Interesting. I hadn't realised Ticket to Ride wasn't on all the versions of DSOTM. <.8.>

I thought it's just way too old thread to be reactivated. :smt102

I am familiar with the forum guidelines about reviving old threads with nothing to add. The guideline is more concerned with "server storage space" which, nearly 20 years after the rule was written, is much less relevant. Reviving an old thread of interest and continuing the conversation is fine.

I think it's better to revive old threads because then we can see both the new comment, and see if there is anything relevant in the previous discussion.

As Keith says, the rule was there for a reason which doesn't really apply any more.

The original CD had it in the mix, as well as the Crazy Diamond version. After it was discovered on the first couple CD pressings, they remedied it by overlapping channels on subsequent remasters. The 5.1 mix also does not have it.
I suppose this was only present on whatever tapes the mixdown was done on or copied to. The 5.1 went back to the original multitracks. Though hearing that the vinyl also does not have it makes me wonder if all the CDs come from an inferior source 8-[

There 's a thread about this specific topic in that audiophiles forum:
https://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/ ... de.216745/
And you know how accurate, specific and anal those people get.

In summary:
  • The TTR version was an instrumental one,
  • It was already present in the vinyl pressings, but it wasn't easy to spot because of the inherent surface noise and mastering volume levels. But it is there.
  • Even the MFS vinyl pressing has it.
  • It can be heard on most of CDs, and is not present on others
  • You need to use headphones and turn the volume really loud to hear it.
Some websites cite it as a "muzak" version (music used in elevators)

Someone edited the sound, boosting the TTR segment and lowering the heartbeat so that it doesn't blow the speakers or damage your eardrum.
You can have a listen to it in a youtube video.
