Roger European Tour and Retirement

Post by Keith Jordan »

I watched a video yesterday I think of Roger Waters saying he is taking his tour to Europe and that this is his final one so he can focus on "other things". Can't for the life of me find it. Has anyone else seen that?

Do you think he will really retire, or will he keep going on like Phil Collins did? [-D-]

I'm not very familiar w/ Phil Collins, but I'm pretty sure Roger will at the very least stop touring, and probably release just one last album.
So... as far as his musical career is concerned, he is nearing retirement. But it's not the end of his artistic career, I don't think.

I think he's rediscovered a love for stories recently - both writing and narrating them, so in addition to finishing the text & hopefully the audiobook version of his memoir, he might start exploring that area a lot more. And poetry, potentially.
I think these are a passion for him at the same level as music, but minus the exhaustion and logistical hell of gigging. Maybe we'll see more 'at home' sessions via Youtube, but honestly he might not be able to sing for much longer... Even then his spoken voice would still, imo, sound fantastic. So yeah, in my view he won't retire as an artist but instead drift towards litterature, and those are the 'other things' he'll be focussing on. Along with his wife and grandkids surely.

As for political activism, he won't stop until his very last breath, that's for sure.

With Rogers input with regards to singing and playing getting less and less he will continue touring using his only name. He won't appear 'In the flesh' all we will get is a holograms of Rog pacing up and down fist pumping his chest or wearing a pigs head. At the end of the show he will appear on a screen telling people to adopt his socialist principles while adding to his £240 million (US$310 million) fortune through over priced ticket and merch sells
