This is absolutely beautiful, and should be written in stone....It is too bad that Syd is not here to read it and realize how much he meant to so many.

They spand loads of money on the other sections with pretty programming and graphics and can only scan a picture of RKB in and put up some shitty text!! They ought to be ashamed!!

We have truly lost a great musician and genius. As for myself, I shall always remember the young, sexy and good looking "Syd"... the fellow that was the playful and witty piper. It really pained me to see many magazines and newspapers using the stoned Syd image as a final memorial to him. Why must we be left with such a crappy last image of him? Those of us who loved him already know the story and hoopla surrounding him and really think it a disservice to have people remember him in such a sad state.
May you find peace wherever you are and finally be free.

If you visit the Astral Piper site ;a v.good Australian site dedicated to Syd Barrett. You will see the "Sculputers/ Memorial Tower complete with blueprints and layouts and Previews of the Memorial Sculputers the webmaster of that site has put on his site.
IMHO; we must do it , but the process and rules and regulations required by the Govt.' and acquire land for it might prove to be a daunting task.May be some day, some one does build that Memorial....

See the dates mentioned above.I got the news on 7th July,which when I crosschecked went a day ahead "July 8th 2006" ,then this BBC & other sites I was looking up on 11th showed that Syd passed away on 11 th July.
And "MOJO Mag" article on the NPF mainpage says Syd passed away on July 7th 2006.
So which Date should I mark as The Day Crazy Diamond Left Earth in my calendar ;as I need to pay him his dues year after year , till the day I too into the Dust Descend.
