I'd like to see some opinions on this
Personally, I love If It's In You and Terrapin.
What do you people think?
Favourite Syd songs?

Yes!Craig Marion wrote:I like "The Gnome" because it always used to make me happy when listening to it...no matter how I was feeling it used to bring me up. It's very whismical.
"Bike" is also one of the favourites, because it makes me laugh. Often singing it when I'm riding my bike to work.
Oh I forgot: Jugband Blues

All of his songs on Piper, except for Chapter 24. Apart from that...
Here I Go - one of the best showcases of his wry humour for me. Lines like "She and I are in love - we've agreed", for instance. It's also very nice and jazzy!
Gigolo Aunt - probably the best straight rock'n'roll tune he ever did. Still has that special Syd-edge to it, though!
Opel - the outro mainly. Those chords are very beautiful and haunting. How it ended up being ditched is beyond me.

those are my faves too. though i wouldn't classify his solo work as "unlistenable". it's not as good as the music that the floyd did. but then again, i don't think any individual member's solo work is as good as the floyd.my breakfast. wrote:I only like the stuff off Piper at the Gates of Dawn. Astronomy Domine! Best moment. That and Interstellar.

of course i disagree about Barrett's solo work being unlistaenble.. thats just one person's opinionas well... as far as it being erractic and unstrictured thats the beauty of it he felt he made his OWN striucture Syd wasn't bound by ANYONE'S conventions....
I l ove FEEL if you can lsiten to "you feel me- away far too empty oh so alone" and not get alump in your throat ...well there's no hope for ya... and RATS--- Syd was mighty funky when he wanted to be
anbd i love the jam Lanky for the same reason
and i think Long gone is a masterpiece.
