The Movies Discussion Thread

Post by Keith Jordan »

Just watched a great movie? Want a recommendation for a good one to watch? Let us all know here!!!

The last movie I watched was The Man which was pretty funny in parts but didnt really have an amazing story line. One of those cheesy American crime comedy films. If you liked American Pie and those teen movies, then you would probably like this.

Watched Munich at the weekend.

I can highly recommend it.

A great story of espionage and revenge. Eric Bana is superb as the leader of the team of agents sent to kill the people connected with the killings at the Munich Olympics.

Watched 'The squid and the whale' last, under great recommendation... and thought is was the greatest load of kack Ive seen in ages....

so disappointed, as it is from the same guys who gave us 'The Life Aquatic', 'Rushmore' and 'The Royal Tenenbaums'.... which were classic!!

the basic premise is that 'divorce is bad'.... which i think most people don't need 1 1/2 hrs of crap dialogue and unrealistic situations to understand.... not even the solitary soundscape of 'Hey You' could save it for me....

Thanks for the warning Henno although I may give it a look anyway.

I loved the Royal Tennenbaums and The Life Aquatic. 2 great quirky movies.

I know Stand By Me was the year before which is also a superb film and well worth a look if youve not seen it, dont think Ive seen him in anything before that tho?????

Edit: Just did a quick search on imdb, his appearance in Amazing Stories was 1985, its not a film but its great too! :D theres a few other films prior to Stand By Me but Ive never heard of them.

Vertigo
which Ive seen before, definitely rewards rewatching
the redwood forest scene always trips me out
"...I was born here..., ...and I died here..."
you notice Jimmy Stewart takes on the characteristics of crazy Kim novak as the movie progresses?
only shes faking it, but hes possessed by her ghost for real, it ruinns his life, he even lands in a mental hospital just as hed advised her husband to get professional help for her in the beginning
also in the ambiguous ending, it can be inferred she finally does commit suicide after confessing

hey Kieth I was wondering where our movie thread went
I think somebody moved it back to fun'n'games, then it got automatically deleted cuz nobody added to it in over 7 days

I really liked the Departed. There's alot of unnecessary language, but I think Leonardo DiCaprio and Jack Nicholson were awesome in it! Plus it's got a cover of Comfortably Numb in it!

Avoid this movie. I love horror films but Saw 3 was an utter ambombination. Completely deplorable, with no redeeming qualities whatsover. The movie was so bad that I've been pissed off since I saw it, and that was last sunday!

Possibly the worst horror film ever made, and that's saying something.

Elaborate gore effects are useless without at least some laughs. Saw 3 doesn't have the cheesy charm of 80's gore flicks, which is what makes them so likeable.

In short, put your testicles in the meat grinder before seeing Saw 3.
