Would this have been written to Libby I assume? Lindsay was later, wasn't she (1967-1968)?

Sounds just like that. She probably kept this poem with her all these years hoping one day she could sell it and get a lot of money. If she cared a bit for him at all there would be no money to buy it now he's gone.cRaB wrote:I find this a shame, a great lack of sensitivity, taste and class or whatever:
you get a little silly poem from your former boyfriend, he then died, and u put it on auction for 1'000£?

Oh, please!… It's her property, to do what she wants with. Incidentally, Viv Brans also had a thing with Gilmour.Hudini wrote:Sounds just like that. Yes, it is almost as evil and disgusting as somebody selling a house that they have inherited from a dead relative!Hudini wrote:Sounds just like that. Re: Syd Love Poem to be Auctioned
Here's a larger and complete version of the poem, courtesy of Matt over at Brain Damage:
Here's the accompanying transcription:
"Little Twig isn't big
To you, but she is
To me.
But however I don't like it
When she makes faces.
And she seldom talks
When we go to places
And meet people
And sit around.
But she prances at dances
Gets crushes, takes chances
With boys, wears a hat
No shoes, and they flatter her
Madly. What of that?
Neat, maroon, blue and white
Lace and chord, velvet. Might
Even keep her coat on if it's right.
Next week
All change
To purple
Or black
Perhaps."
Something else to consider is that this poem is being auctioned by Vivien's nephew. He also auctioned off the abstract painting with the crosses about 3 months ago that Syd gave to her. She may very well be deceased, and the nephew probably has absolutely no affinity for Syd Barrett at all.

Syd'sSexy, you should have had a word with this young man and put him in his place...or at least you could have used your exotic charms on him and been given these things for free!

Re: Syd Love Poem to be Auctioned
Honestly? If it wasn't a Syd's poem, it would cost very little. I know myself as I've been a lyricist for over 6 years now, and i see Syd made a lot of mistakes in this one...

Re: Syd Love Poem to be Auctioned
Moom, the mere fact that it IS a Syd poem is the reason it is collectible and worth soooo much! Besides the few paintings and sketches that survived his bonfire burnings or remained in Bernard White's collection, there are very few authentic copies of any of Syd's original work!
No, it's not Longfellow, Whitman or Bronte, but it is still valuable!

Re: Syd Love Poem to be Auctioned
I think that's exactly what I said - that because it's a Syd poem, it's worth.

Re: Syd Love Poem to be Auctioned
Can I suggest that you check your facts !!!!!!!!!
cRab , Hudini-next time you want to make insulting comments about someone/something you know nothing about just consider how hurtful your comments can be and that you don't know the facts behind this.
I find it disgusting the way some people on here are allowed to make nasty comments about people they know nothing about.
