BBC 1967

Post by Lord Bryon »

Did the BBC rebroadcast any of Syd's Floyd Top Gear sessions since his death, and if so, are they in any better quality than the common roio sources?

My guess is no. The roio's are pretty good quality considering what they are.

there was a rebroadcast of Reaction in G/Set the Controls via the Internet about two years ago, i think following John Peels death
I recall it being a streaming audio thing, cant remember if it was on the BBCs website or not, but some clever collector saved the streaming audio as mp3 and that was a huge upgrade on the version thatd been circulating for years

Reaction in G was only a 30 second clip, wasn't it? That was extremely annoying.

Unfortunately, that was all they recorded. I don't know if the Floyd played longer, but the commentator (John Peel, I suppose) mentioned it being only thirty seconds long. Thirty seconds was MIGHTY short for the Floyd in that day, though. Maybe, God willing, a longer version will turn up someday!
