Science Fiction
All about Sci-fi, I'll start of by saying - anyone who likes Sci/Fi, the Matrix, Anime, or anything of the sort needs to check out the Animatrix. For one reason, Matriculated. Its one of 9 short stories about the Matrix. I'm not a huge Matrix fan or Anime, but I am of sci/fi. And this episode blew my mind. The others on there are good, but this one especially. To anyone who has seen it, isn't it sci-fi-adelic?

Blade Runner is awesome! They are making a 2 dvd set, with the original and directors cut with special features. I've got the laserdisc version of the original theatrical release with the harrison ford voice over and extended ending. its interestingmosespa wrote:The only Sci-Fi that's ever interested me are:

Re: Science Fiction
Has anyone watched Looper? What a great film! Best time travel film since 12 Monkeys. I guess there's no much regard for the butterfly effect on it, but you know, that kinda makes it more fun, since we all know time travelling to the past is not possible we can just as well explore the unrealistic possibilities of it as a narrative device. The really interesting thing for me was how they laid out the theme of "identities" over the whole movie, between different father and son figures, old and young versions of the same people, unrelated people that grew under the same circumstances, different paths for the same individual, etc...

And also it leaves a lot of unanswered possibilities in the air, which is always good for this kind of films.
I was thinking about creating a thread just for sci-fi films, but I guess this one will do.

I agree with the poster who said Space Odyssey. I watched it and it's great. It's also the only sci-fi that left me thoroughly impressed.

Re: Science Fiction
Well, what can I say. Never been a huge fan of reading Sc-fi novels...but like the films.
So, as somebody who has gotten back into comics for the first time since I was 12 a few years ago, I have this to say:
I bought the "John Carter: Warlord of Mars" Omnbus (Marvel) today!!! I had about three issues from 1978 when I was 7. They really stuck out in my memory. When the movie came out this year, it sort of jogged my memory...barely. Essentially, I read the movie was a flop, almost before it was released AND read about the writer the film was based on...but, no mention of the comic. It took some thinking, and I realized I had a few comics when I was young.
So?
I read a number of reviews of the film today online, AND it gets awesome reviews!!! I suspect the marketing was the problem (They just called it John Carter - maybe they should have mentioned the Mars bit).
I can't wait to see this film. Anybody watched it?

One of the best SF films ever made.
I know that Prometheus hasnt done pretty well considering the story, but visually it's brilliant.
