Have there been any reactions from Waters or Mason yet?

There are candles lit on Roger Waters' site now. I think that is his tribute for Rick and I think he will issue a statement soon. I know now why there would not be a PF reunion tour after Live 8 and it was Rick's health took a turn for worse. David Gilmour's responses in last week and half to press saying "no thanks to future PF" is he knew Rick was sick. There is no Pink floyd without Rick Wright. I know a PF reunion is out of the cards and the tribute DG will have is the Live in Gdansk set being a fitting epitaph to Rick's memory.

Gilmour's tribute was very touching, especially that last line.

Indeed, beautifully thought out words. Death comes to us all I guess ... but when death comes to someone you love it's presence seems far worse than your own future demise.

Sad circumstances are often ones that bring people together in a way that happier ones do not; I guess it could be that that there is a focus for thoughts and words tend to be more carefully chosen.

Damn. That got my crying again. I thought I was done with that. I know it's stupid to cry over someone you never met, but this is really affecting me.

I'm still welling up. I felt silly too, but when you feel so close to the music of the band you love and basically discuss them on a day to day basis (or listen or read), it is really really sad.

It took me a long time to deal with Syd Barrett's passing, I expect to feel shattered for a little while yet.

I'm guessing that it may be (un)happy coincidence. He was probably booked a while ago, but can hardly "celebrate" his Live in Gdansk now.

Is it possible that Wright would have been with Gilmour on this show?

I wouldn't have thought so; I imagine that although it was described as a 'short struggle' with cancer that Rick had been at least unwell for some time, and David's appearance on the show would have been planned some time ago.

I wonder what songs David will choose to perform?

I hope he performs something other than that godawful Great Gig in the Sky. I hate that that's what Rick's best remembered for.
