That thought has totally spoiled my Saturday. hahahaSydWaters wrote: Im sure there will be no Animals immersion if these 2 tracks are on wywh, why would they have not saved these 2 tracks for animals then?

Maybe they've got a decent live recording from the Animals tour I'm quite fond of that ubiquitous (except in Stephen's collection) Oakland Coliseum set

when roger wrote,Stephen wrote:I agree and think they are overpriced for what we are getting. I bought the DSOTM one and would no doubt still buy Meddle and Ummagumma ones if they were ever released but I can't say they are value for money. A scarf, some marbles, coasters and cards might be nice novelty items but hardly essential and I think a more reasonable price would have been around the £60 mark.Isntthiswherewe wrote:
Cant speak for anyone else but I think they are all a rip off! Im basing this on comparison with the Genesis box sets.
Each of these contained 5 albums in a proper case. Inside the case were 2 discs. One, a hybrid containing a new stereo version you can play on anything and an SACD multi channel version. Disc two was a dvd with a dts 5.1 version, interviews with band members on thier recolections of the making of that particular album and then some rare video content. Plus another 6th disc containg b-sides and 12 singles material all very rare.
Wish I'd got one of those Genesis ones.
"gotta keep the people buying all of this shit",
it was cynicism,
nick and david have made it reality.

Re: Wish You Were Here Immersion Edition Discussion
Amazon Germany have removed the WYWH Immersion boxset from sale due to customer complaints.
The complaints are due, in the main, to the clicks and pops in the 5.1 surround mix on the blu-ray disc.

I heard a rumour that the US edition has been repackaged so that all of the discs are in individual sleeves to protect them in transit and the blu-rays no longer have the clicks. Can anyone confirm?

Re: Wish You Were Here Immersion Edition Discussion
My Immersion set had the individual discs in individual card sleeves marked "DISC ONE" through "DISC FOUR". Everything played well (I haven't played the dvds though...didn't think I needed to since I played the blu ray disc).
My set was preordered so maybe all the sets in the US were packaged this way?

I am aware that some discs have been scratched during transit, but the clicks on the Made In The EU bluray are due to disc pressing issues, not scratches, so all blurays pressed from the same glass master will have the same issues (see my updated earlier post).GnollinZ wrote:I heard a rumour that the US edition has been repackaged so that all of the discs are in individual sleeves to protect them in transit and the blu-rays no longer have the clicks. Re: Wish You Were Here Immersion Edition Discussion
I ordered mine from the USA to UK and it had the discs in cardboard sleeves unlike the European ones. Not such a good idea to ship a product with discs flying all over the place. I hope they learn to put all the discs in protective covers during transit.

Re: Wish You Were Here Immersion Edition Discussion
Such a simple thing, especially seeing as the Pink Floyd guys supposedly wanted their fans to be able to able to enjoy the CDs and DVDs on decent equipment The least that could've been done was to package them properly so that people could be able to take them in and out easily. Mounting them in those cavities at the bottom of the box truly is shoddy workmanship (Ted).
I'm really taken with Disc 2. I'd heard the live tracks before but it really is great to hear them polished up like this. It does make me wonder though how many other live shows they've got stashed away and that we will never get to hear in their full audio glory

Re: Wish You Were Here Immersion Edition Discussion
i have a feeling that the cardboard sleeves were an afterthought because of the large number of discs that were scratched in the dsotm set. otherwise they would have included them in that set as well. the blueray sleeves in both sets have artwork while the other 4 in wywh do not. some might argue that ties into the theme of "absence" on wywy, but i think it was a quick way to get them to the production line once the complaints (and returns) started rolling in. they only had about a month to fix the packaging problems discovered after shipping dsotm before wywh was due to ship and they probably didn't have time to go back to storm and have him design the sleeves and the get them printed. i'm sure that if they had an "in house" graphic artist at the label whip them out, there would have been hell to pay from storm. plus, he probably had a contractual "final cut" on the package design so they couldn't have done them without his input. the plain white sleeves allowed them to include the sleeves without a different artist's work in the box and they can claim it was by design by saying that it's all part of the absence theme. i'm pretty sure that the discs in the wall will have some sort of artwork because there's enough time to do them right.

Following this whole absence theme I think I'm going to re-arranged all my CDs and leave an empty space in my Pink Floyd collection where the WYWH boxset was supposed to bedavidjay wrote:the plain white sleeves allowed them to include the sleeves without a different artist's work in the box and they can claim it was by design by saying that it's all part of the absence theme.

Anyone find any Easter Eggs on this one? I don't know what to look for. I was hoping there'd be one.

The easter eggs seem to be absent too
OK, I promise I won't do lame "absence" jokes again.
