Stranger Things would have been a whole different thing if somehow time distorted and it was What God Wants Pt.2 instead of Running Up That Hill!theaussiefloydian wrote: Sat Jul 23, 2022 5:33 pmDon't see that one leaving the charts any time soon.
Just listened to the new Great Day for Freedom. I can hear what the intention was, but I can't say I'm too keen on it. But I'm not the biggest fan of the song in general so that's a factor here too.

Good to see this making money for a good cause. But let’s be honest it’s complete tosh, much like the majority of the Gilmour era.

The way I look at it is as old as these buggers are anything we get at this point is just the gravy on top. They have given us plenty of great shit and I for 1 am glad their just up and still kicking.

Not sure if it's mentioned elsewhere but I've just realised that Great Day for Freedom was remixed for this release
Edit: unsure if remix or just a different version

Re: Hey Hey Rise Up
I missed out on this discussion being absent from the forum at the time.
At first this song sounded decidedly odd to me. With the completely non-Floydian vocals (in more than just the language and singer) and the almost 70s Floyd by numbers backing track. Plus DG guitar solos. So, an unusual combination. I don't blame Nick for the simplistic drumming as it seems to me that they were aiming at a particular sound for the backing track, and they achieved that.
It's an interesting way to end PF, if that is what happens. Much better than 'Lost For Words' which I have never warmed up to at all.
But, I've warmed up to HHRU, now that I'm used to the mixture of, to my ears, two very different styles.
Nitin Sawhney is an interesting person to have in the band. He is a very talented composer, producer, and instrumentalist. If PF ever did restart, and NS was added to the lineup - that would be interesting.
