Watched this podcast video with Craig Murray, John Shipton & Roger Waters about Julian Assange. A very interesting listen in itself, but also, Roger recited a poem of his that I'm quite sure is new to the Internet. [51:33] Only, I'm having a hard time understanding it as the audio quality isn't great and English isn't my mother tongue. Here's what I've got so far :
I just want that thing when voices join in harmony
And in that fleeting moment, meaning coalesces there
All dark, dissolving, clouds the alleyways no more
And the fresh bread scent of home pervades the air.
No sandal soles in dust of broken homes
Nor callous toes?, deep?, bloody from the garment hem
And all the big parades and chock and all
And swagger on the carriers deck
And medals jangle? helpless in the face of what is there?
I just want that thing when friends draw in
Some living, some bygone, some missing,
None forgotten, all beloved, everyone ;
Then, hurl that grass into the fire
And well up, unashamed, my heart beyond the reach of the fear
And faith, blind, bigoted and drear.
And then across the great divide, wise?
Men and women unafraid
To dash in loss their bracelets at the wall
And hearing them, hope holds me in its thrall.
I just want that thing when empathy prevails
And man evolves beyond ? and reason comes of age.
Dogma, ? and witchcraft are all banished to the past
And voices join in harmony at last.
