Stage banter and David Gilmour... A bit like comparing Simply Red and taste in the same breath.
I may well have been incredibly lucky (and old enough) to have seen the great man on stage 25 - 30 times in my lifetime, but I struggle to think of a time when I've witnessed David Gilmour on a stage saying anything out of the plain ordinary. He's not exactly known for his jokes or audience interaction I guess. His interviews may well be extremely interesting if a little restrained, but has anyone ever heard Gilmour say anything other than 'thank you for coming.'? Or a 'good evening' or indeed 'a Goodnight' on stage? This may well be a very short post!

Re: The 'Has David Gilmour ever said something interesting on stage' thread
I heard a bootleg from a concert in 1988 (might've been in Australia) when someone must've shouted "Where's Roger" or something similar and he replied "Who? Oh he couldn't make it" before awkwardly suggesting they got on with the show and "enough dithering".
Although it's not necessarily "interesting", he was much more talkative on the AMLOR tour after Learning to Fly and introducing the next song.

He was a bit more talkative during his semi acoustic gigs in 2000-2002

If I remember this right, somebody from the audience shouted up to him that they should play something from Animals. He replied "We'd be here until turf out time".Yucateco wrote: Thu Oct 31, 2024 11:09 am He was a bit more talkative during his semi acoustic gigs in 2000-2002

On his About Face Live Hammersmith London video from 84, when he sits at the keyboard to play Out of the Blue he asks if everybody is ok, and particularly if everyone in the balcony is “cosy”
In 1994 at the re-scheduled gig at Earls Court (17th Oct 94) due to the stand collapse on the opening night, David addressed the audience after LTF “ I hear some of you are not too well” and then added “you should have sued somebody……but preferably not me”
On the Fisherman bootleg gig from 1988 where they played at a club in Copenhagen at one point David shouts “sort the f’king PA out man”

At the 1988 Wembley show, (the Saturday) it was the hottest day ever at the time, after SOYCD opened the show he shouted out, 'Nice day for it!'. Not really very interesting I know.
