Trying Syd Barrett's Opal

How 'Opal' is meant to be heard...
With creative overdubs!
And then one day! Hooray...
The ultimate version with David Gilmour...
No, such version just doesn't exist...
What exactly is a dream
What exactly is a joke
Pink Floyd wanted to have Barrett as songwriter.
And decades later, for a 2010 release,
Gilmour has reworked some Barrett recordings,
for example overdubbing 'Here I Go'.
So, why no 'Opel'/'Opal'?
Imagine Pink Floyd already using 'Opal' in 1969...
If they really wanted Barrett writing songs for them!
They could have used his basic recording,
just like is done in the so far two fan remixes.
Or make an all-new version like Full Dimension.
How 'Ummagumma' could have been...
How 'The Madcap Laughs' could have been...
So far, officially, there's only the skeleton.
Barrett strumming guitar chords like forever,
without explaining he's tracking for overdubs!
Have you got it yet?
According to Pink Floyd folklore,
songwriter Barrett was fired forever
because of making different versions,
every time going through a song again -
as he does with Mind Shot 'It Is Obvious'...
Why didn't they just record him doing so
and then decide how to finish his ideas?
They wanted their friend as songwriter...
Their own Brian Wilson...
Well, Barrett did deliver after 1967 -
and nothing was used for Pink Floyd!
Imagine 'Milky Way'
on the album 'Meddle'!
Vocals by Gilmour/Wright/Waters...
Why not?
Pink Floyd classics 'Opal', 'Milky Way'...
Maybe in an alternate universe...
Opel/Opal - as it's meant to be heard!
