My youngest brother once told me that to him, The Beatles' songs sound like "nursery rhymes."

This makes sense to me, only because of what The Beatles did for music in their day. The Beatles pushed the envelope of popular music. They brought the intricacies of "serious" music to rock and roll...intricate harmonies, unusual chord progressions which led to more complicated melodies which still contained hooks strong enough to send the songs to the top of the pop charts.

It's a fact that at one time, the top five songs on the Billboard Pop Chart were Beatles songs...not Myth...not Hype...FACT.

No matter what era, that's a huge accomplishment.

They changed the way popular music sounds...that's not Myth...not Hype...that's FACT.

Say what you want to about them...say that you don't see the appeal, that's fine...that's your opinion...the FACTS bear out that you are, indeed, missing something.

hah spot on, totally agree with you nowadays

i indeed missed something, but fortunately it is not so late i guess

What can I say? These guys just changed the shape of rock 'n' roll music from its early primitive forms to the many styles that are present today. And they achieved all that in just a little over eight years of existence!!!

A few years ago I'd have been all over the expanded versions of 1962-1966 and 1967-1970 but... I've heard the remasters and they're ruined!
The cello solo in I Am The Walrus isn't as prominent as it originally was.
Still a great band, however!
