I don't understand what everyone thought was so terrible. It's a different direction from his psychedelic rock/pop sure but it's compelling. Does anyone recall the reason given for its abandonment?
Well, the most official reason is that he just didn't want to be in there and he hadn't written any lyrics. (He had a habit of playing guitar and singing new songs at the same time, even if the songs were very incomplete; he didn't do instrumental demos, which means these songs had no words.)
I see. Thanks. What a shame he stopped for our sakes but I can see how it could be more fulfilling to create only for oneself on one's own terms rather than deal with all the stress of being a pop group frontman.
I heard these for the first time today. It took a while because I couldn't find the SHN plugin for Foobar 2000 anybody else had trouble? Anyway, I thought they were pretty good.
