Goodbye Yellow Brick Road

Post by Real Pink in the Inside »

I just heard this song for the first time. I think it's quite beautiful, which seems slightly odd because I usually don't care for rather poppy songs...

Do you like this song?

This is the only Elton John song I like. I think it's very good, especially compared to his other work.

It's one of my favorite Elton John songs.

Actually, as far as I'm concerned, anything Elton has done since Too Low For Zero and the Lion King soundtrack have been pretty much crap.

I think his best work was done in the Seventies and early Eighties.

That's just me, though.

The only good Elton John song is Bennie and the Jets.

I really like early 70's Elton, anything up to 1976 when he did that nutty duet with Kiki Dee; that was the end for me. Songs such as "burn down the mission" and "Take me to the pilot" are great rock songs. He was one of rocks real showmen back in those days with his crazy outfits and stuff. Although I personally don't care for much of his post 1976 music he has managed to re-create himself over and over again and still remains popular. How can anyone not like "candle in the wind"

I've never been a big Elton John fan, but i've always had a soft spot for "Tiny Dancer".

I actually like Elton's versions of Pinball Wizard and Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds at least as much as the originals...sometimes I even like them better.

It takes a special artist to improve upon The Who and The Beatles.

Joe Cocker did it, also. IMHO.

I like some of Elton Johns work. He is a great British gem!! I love that live version of the original Candle In The Wind he did with the wig on etc. that is rather moving. :) Does anybody know what tour that was? It is currently in fair circulation on the digital music channels here in England.

It's from a tour of Australia that he did in the late eighties. He played with an orchestra...I want to say it was the London Symphony Orchestra, but I could be mistaken.
