Rumour probably

Post by bong »

I heard from a few different people that Roger Waters, after the release of the Wall movie, went into a mental institution. True??

I've heard variations on this story...

Roger wrote The Wall from an institution...

Roger wrote DSOTM from an institution...

Roger wrote the lyrics for Comfortably Numb while in the throes of heroin withdrawl...

There is no documented evidence whatsoever to suggest that Roger Waters has ever seen the inside of a mental institution, although he admits to having seen a therapist.

Man, if Roger were hospitalized as much as people claim, he never would have had time to go on tour or into the studio. He could write, sure, but cut tracks and go on tour? No way.

When I first saw The Wall at the age of 12, my older brother, who owned the tape and had most of Floyd's albums at the time, told me this was basically Roger Waters' story. He also told me that he heard Roger went crazy a year or two after release of The Wall.

Yep, that's right. Until I read more about the band online (c. 1999), I thought Roger Waters was not on DB and MLOR because he went CRAZY.

Because she is new here and is taking the opportunity to see what kind of people come here...doing homework, as it were.

I encourage it...who knows? Some old thread might spark a new conversation.

Long as it's not one of my old threads, i've had enough arguing/abuse from the revival of the David Gilmour Is Crap thread :D

But yeah, good on her.

There is a function whereby I can "prune" the forum. Topice which haven't been replied to in any amount of days I specify (like 30) can be deleted. That is no good though as everybody's posts will go and all that knowledge and history be gone so there is no chance of that!! Just a note. :-)

Libby- if you're digging up old threads look for the ones authored by "mosthigh" for a chuckle.

Best leave those ones alone as somebody will only go and get themselves banned.

Yea, that's probably a good idea
