'How to get the best squeal from an animal, using the most humane method'.

Granted, it's a niche market, but....wow!

Currently reading Stephen Kings "Doctor Sleep"

I am however giving serious thought to ditching it in favour of How to Avoid Huge Ships.

I had to google it.....I thought it was a joke

I finished reading "Inside Out - A Personal History of Pink Floyd" by Nick Mason. I absolutely love this book, "love" in the present tense because it's a book to refer to often - very well written with beautiful glossy/matte photos on high quality thick paper. Nick has a great personality, very  humorous parts to his story and much information about the history of studios, background of music in Britain starting with the inception of Pink Floyd in the 60's. Also the book has a chronology in the back pages defining important world and PF events from 1943, updated to 2005.

I plan to write a 5 star review, highest rating, at Indigo/Chapters and Goodreads soon. Definitely my review will be well planned & worthy as Nick Mason is very intelligent and his writing skills are highly developed. He could easily be mistaken for a person with a Masters degree in English Lit, university level. Although Philip Dodd edited this book, you can tell it's all Nick.

Also, yesterday I uploaded my free e-book "Star Water - Part 1 - Silver Rain" at the HarperCollins website, Authonomy in England, and I was busy editing, reading this revised manuscript before submitting. The book is a recollection of my earlier days and continuing lifelong fascination with great modern musicians. Not to be confused with Pamela Des Barres "I'm with the Band" :o my story isn't about groupies. It's chick lit romance fantasy fiction, so please tell the women in your lives to check it, including the black bass Fender on the cover! :) This isn't just a shameless plug but it's free - how generous of me, ha! Here's the link, thanks for looking!

The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat by Oliver Sacks. Umm....I'm finding it heavy going but maybe if I persist with it it'll get better.

Syd Barrett: A Very Irregular Head by Rob Chapman. I'm a slow reader so it'll take me a while to get through this. I'm not sure whether I'll agree with what he argues in it or not but it's an interesting read.

I found Chapman's theories pretty similar to what I myself imagined might have actually happened to Syd. We'll probably never know for sure anyway.

On topic: 'How Music Works' by David Byrne. Very interesting.

finished One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. Won't pass judgement just yet, I think I need to read it a few more times.

The Pillars Of The Earth by Ken Follett

Immediately prior to this, I'd read Follett's Jackdaws (and before that, never read KF at all), the writing in which I would call "functional" - not terribly deep, meaningful or interesting, but a decently entertaining read. TPOTE is much more richly done, characterization and events, etc.
