I think Jugband Blues. Very sad song indeed.

Just as a note to you Rpiti, this poll is okay as it has not been constructed to degenerate into a Waters Vs Gilmour debate as I think you were trying with the two polls I deleted yesterday. :)

I also voted for jugband blues, a song written by someone slowly going insane about the experience of going insane. It was Syd's final cry out to the world and the members of Pink Floyd.

Ok, not really, afterall, Roger and Dave did produce some of his stuff, but it was indded a very sad song and a documentation of losing your mind.

I voted for Lucifer Sam.. it's because I've got a cat and every time he walks into the room good old lucifer Sam starts playing in my head!! Especialy the 'that cats got something I can't explain' bit :?
It happens every time I swear! It's a great tune though so I don't mind..

I didn't realise how BIG Syd Barrett was (and still is) until I listened The Gnome more carefully. Take notice of the melody in the part 'And than one day, hurray...'. WHAT A BEAUTIFUL SET OF CHORDS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He has a melody capabilities of Paul McCartney and lyrics of John Lennon. What an irony, there was after all two Barretts: Syd and Roger. Couple persons, the power of many and the only one.

And what's really weird was that there were two Rogers.

Boggles the mind when you think about it.

I know it was never officially released, but my favourite song Syd did with Pink Floyd is "Vegetable Man". A great song all round, and quite a disturbing song. If you want to know the root of all Syd's problems, just listen to the lyrics in the middle eight.

"I've been looking all over the place,
For a place for me,
But it ain't anywhere
It just ain't anywhere".

Phew.
