Matt Gilmour, son of Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour, has a new album out. It is called Business As Usual and is a blend of guitar and electronic music.

Matt said, “My new album is finally out! It has been an exciting journey getting this made and I can’t wait to share it with all of you. I am very sorry it took longer than planned and I am excited to hear everyone’s feedback”. I think it sounds fantastic and love the album artwork below, reminds me of my youth! Give it a listen.

Cancer diagnosis leads to music career

Matt Gilmour, born in England, is the son of David Gilmour, the guitarist of Pink Floyd. Growing up, he witnessed his father’s musical prowess from the side of the stage. However, Matt’s life took a dramatic turn when he was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 29. After undergoing chemotherapy in England, he moved to Austin, Texas, where he found solace and inspiration in informal jam sessions known as “Music Mondays.” These sessions helped him overcome depression and led to the formation of his band. Today, Matt is on the verge of releasing music that reflects his growth as a person and musician, blending psychedelic rock with touches of prog, blues, indie, folk, and funk.

Matt Gilmour Tour/Gig Dates

There are no tour dates for Matt on his website but looking at previous dates he has played around Texas and California. Perhaps his mum Ginger Gilmour lives in the area. There are no future live dates so you will have to make do with his new album for now. Given David Gilmour is currently on tour with a new band, it seems like a missed opportunity for Matt to be in the band as part of the fresh makeover David’s touring band has had for the Luck and Strange tour. Matt’s sister Romany Gilmour is making her way in the music business as part of her father’s band.
