On Friday, March 1st, the new issue of the UK’s Uncut music magazine is published, and has an exclusive 11 page feature on Nick Mason’s Saucerful of Secrets. In it, Nick tells Uncut: “The best Pink Floyd gigs were voyages of discovery, accompanied by a sense of mystery and adventure. I was excited about playing music with a sense of freedom, music that involved improvisation. The tour will visit lots of different countries and venues allowing fans to enjoy the band’s impressive performance. Following last week’s announcement of the UK tour dates, a whopping and exciting 13 new shows across Europe have been announced. Nick Mason’s Saucerful of Secrets European Tour 2024 will be calling at Germany, The Netherlands, Belgium, France, Luxembourg, Austria and Slovenia. Roger Waters is supporting Record Store Day 2024 by releasing a picture disc edition of his Dark Side of the Moon Redux. The event takes place annually and allows artists and fans alike to support independent stores selling Vinyl in the UK and USA. This year’s event takes place on 20th April 2024. There will only be 3,000 copies of this picture disc available meaning this is very much a collectors item. Each of them is individually numbered so highly collectable indeed. There were 9 separate coloured versions of the album available when originally released and this is an additional one. Some of the other coloured ones had less than 3,000. The printing technique looks fantastic and uses technology similar to Dark Side 50th Anniversary Edition picture disc which is released the day before on 19th April 2024. Nick Mason’s Saucerful of Secrets UK Tour 2024 has been announced for June 2024. There have been 14 dates announced starting at Victoria Hall in Stoke on 11th June and ending at the Royal Albert Hall in London on 29th June. The UK tour will see the excellent band returning to some of the venues they played in 2023 bringing their delightful Set The Controls tour to new and old fans alike. They are also taking on some new venues that nobody from Pink Floyd have played at before. Nick Mason’s open garden charity event is on 8th and 9th June then he is playing 11th on the first UK date. Back in February 2023 David Gilmour was recording with Mark Knopfler for a Teenage Cancer Trust charity single. The single is a re-recording of Mark Knopfler’s “Going Home (Theme From Local Hero)” and will be released on March 15th 2024. It is in support of Teenage Cancer Trust and the band is called Mark Knopfler’s Guitar Heroes. In an amazing twist to the story, there are actually over 60 artists included on the song. In a “We Are The World” style recording, people like Bruce Springsteen, David Gilmour, Slash, Ronnie Wood, Joan Jett, Eric Clapton, Pete Townshend and Sting are involved.
